i was just wondering roughly how much weight babies should be putting on each week?
Ollie seems to be putting weight on really quick. when she was born, she weighed 7lb 3oz, she was weighed 5 days later and still weighed 7lb 3oz, andother 5 days later she weighed 7lb 14oz and anther 5 days later she weighed 8lb 10oz. does this seem alot?

This is why I was told not to get Anna weighed every week!!

Why is LO weighed so often??

The first few weeks are different for every baby- my Anna lost 14oz within the first week and it took til she was 3 weeks old to get her back to her birth weight.

After the first 6 weeks or so it did settle and from then on she is still gaining on average an ounce a day.

Ollie has gained a huge amount in just 2 weeks!! I wouldnt worry - that increase will not continue - it will slow to about 7oz a week pretty soon.

Congrats on the LO!:flower:

nope not if she's ff hun. ff babies put on more weight more quickly and I think it's a good sign when they're feeding well and putting on weight. She's obviously thriving, content and happy and you're doing a fabulous job hun!

Harry was 7lb2 at birth and now is 20lb 4 at 20 weeks!!!! chunky monkey and he is fab!
at 2 weeks he was 8lb 2, 4 weeks 9.15, 6 weeks 11.9. obviously boys tend to be bigger than girls too. Is there a clinic you could take her to to get her weighed every other week then you can keep an eye on it and ask your hv if you are worried?

Ah congrats hun I didn't realise you'd had your LO

Try not to worry about the weight gain (she says)
I constantly worry about Max's as in 10 weeks he's nearly doubled his birthweight. A healthy baby is a thriving baby so just get the weigh ins as little as often x

thanks for the replies.
ellie27, the 1st 3 times she was weighed it was during mw visits and the 4th time was when the health visitor visited. i just assumed it was normal for them to weighed so much x
Mrsdot, i think there will be a clinic but i dont want think ill go for a while, i dont want to obsess over her weight. im sure if theres a prob then the health visitor will mention something.

the health visitor is coming again this wednesday coz when she did ollies hearing test, her right ear was fine but there was no response from the right ear, so i think ill ask her to weigh her then, just to see if the weight gain has calmed down a bit. then i dont think ill get her weighed for a few weeks x

well, the health visitor has just been, ollie has gone from 8lb 14oz last wednesday to 9lb 6oz today. i cant believe she has put on 2lb 3oz in 3 weeks lol. the heath visitor said she is fine though. she said shes on the 75th thing on the graph thingy in the red book so she said her weight gain is still normal x
