Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hi ladies! :hi: You won’t believe what I found while sorting out the garage today! I found a huge suitcase stuffed absolutely to bursting with baby clothes! Newborn clothes, from preemie through 3-6 months! This is something that I packed up after Kat outgrew them and just forgot I had them…I have over 40 of those little side snap t-shirts, plus body suits, onsies, long sleeved shirts with mitts attached, the cutest little pant and top outfits for newborns, all in gorgeous greens, olives, pinks, blues, and tons of easy wash whites, and get this—and absolutely brand new unopened package of side snap t’s for 5-8 pounds! :cloud9: I am in heaven at the moment as dh and I were toughly trying to budget for those newborn items and the price has skyrocketed on them locally…. The only thing we can ascertain that we absolutely need to buy now is socks. Wow, huh?! I will still probably buy her something brand new to come home in - uniquely hers, you know? :cloud9:

That is awesome! Sounds like you hit the jackpot.

Hi ladies/mommies out there. I am new to this forum and I am happy that I come across this site.
I also trying to conceive at the age over 35. This is sometimes frustrating and stressful.
Just want to be connected to other women who are experiencing the same, just to let me feel, I am not alone on this and learn from other's experiences

:cloud9:

Welcome. Sending lots of baby dust your way!

Hi divee,
Looks like we are in the same boat and found the same place. I'm 36 and finally starting to pursue answers about my fertility, so this is the right place for me :winkwink:

I have to do injectable progesterone as well as the vaginal suppositories. They are messy but they don't hurt. Every RE has their thing I guess. That is what they recommend for me but I have heard they are equally effective. Maybe I will be doubly protected just in case. :)

Gncope- why do they have to inject your progesterone? My doc mentioned thaat supps are more effective but some prefer shots to the mess :nope: Supps ARE messy...when do you start the prog?

Ali- when do you have to head back to FL? Or are you thinking of moving permanent to Canada??? Sounds so nice there right now!

Re: name choice. Thanks ladies! Dh and I both liked Augusta but there were points to it we didn't like...e.g., Auggie, T didn't like it period :haha:....But so far I love Aeryn Alexa :) She's kicking me again btw...wonder if it has to do with the ice cream? I know it's late I should not eat it that late but MMMmmm-MM! :haha:

at first the needles were bearable but after a few weeks they were dreadful. I don't know if I could do all of that again.
I am feeling much better. When I spoke to RE last she talked about doing transfer next cycle if I was up to it. I haven't been back yet and don't have a solid plan but if I plan to do it in the next months I need to start progesterone shots and such in the next couple if weeks. I am probably going to give my body another week before I decide anything. It has been through a lot. Most people I talk to think it is crazy and I should just wait a few months before I do anything. I have come this far and can't wait to be pregnant. I am trying to listen to my body and take things a day at a time. It is just so disappointing to have come so close. I have 7 frosties waiting for me. Hehe
We obviously will not be implanting 7 but let's get this party started:happydance:

Sounds like you have had quite a busy day. FYI about the menopur, don't know if you find that it stings. It is not as friendly of a shot as the gonal f. I just put ice on it after and it was good. They also put me on ganirelix and that needle hurt....almost felt dull or barbed at the end of it...so not fun. I talked to the nurse about it and she said plenty of people say the same things,...wondering if you had similar experience with menopur. I am really not looking forward to the progesterone in the backside muscle...nothing about that sounds fun for me. Your lining sounds great...come on follies grow. They adjusted mine a few times to see what worked so hang in there.

Yes, it did sting a little. Actually almost 3 hours later and it is still stinging a little bit. I'm happy about my lining, but I need those follies to wake up and GROW!! Hopefully the Menopur will help them do that. So I'm on 75 iu of Gonal F and 75 iu of Menopur for 5 more days, and we'll see what we have at that time. I hope I have 2-4 nice follies, but no more! I don't want to be Kate Goseling or Octomom! I wish I had my heating pad here, that seemed to help a few months ago.

How are you feeling? Are you starting to get better? How many cycles do you have to wait before they can implant the embryos?

Hi ladies,

I'm nearly 35 and getting nervous that I'm getting too old to conceive. I know this sounds ridiculous to some, and I guess it may be because I had children young so it seems so old to me. I just need some reassurance that it can happen, and that I'm not in for a long, hard road, leading to infertility. My partner and I desperately want a baby and we can't ttc for another few months, whereby I will be 35. I had my first child at 22, and am now worried that I've missed the boat for a child with the love of my life.

Any opinions would be appreciated. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone; I really don't mean to, I'm just nervous and worried. Feeling the pressure to do it now, and if I wait any longer, we will miss out. What do you think?

Sunflower don't worry Hun you will be fine,I had my 1st at 31,2nd at 32,3rd at 34,4th at 37 and 5th at 40 we are now ttc no 6 and I have just turned 42 (I have had 2 miscarriages in between,we did start ttc when I was 26 but had infertility issues so took 6 years to concieve my 1st)

Hi SunflowerBub, I know how you feel, I was 24 when I met my Husband, he told me then that he never wanted to live with anyone or get married and certainly didn't want kids. I knew then that I really wanted all 3 and that he was such a nice person that I knew he would one day want a family, anyway, it too 4 years for me to move in, 6 for us to buy a house together, 7 until we were married and now, both at 37, we really want to have a child or 2. His Mum spoke to me a few years ago and wondered how I can be with someone who doesn't want kids. I told her that although I would love children with him, he is more important to me and that I've seen him with kids, he's great with my Neice and Nephew.

I knew it wouldn't be easy, with me having PCOS, being overweight and my age, but my first month TTC and we managed to get pregnant. unfortunately that ended in a MC at 8 weeks, but it means that I know its possible, we've just got to persevere. It is disappointing when AF shows her ugly head, but, it'll all be worth it in the end when we're all rewarded with our little bundles.

Good luck and :dust:

Ali- if you are still online check out Jess' chart! Spike to 97.9 this a.m. :happydance: My fingers and toes are crossing so much I am starting to get cramps in my feet.....:haha:

Thank you for posting this... I've totally been stalking her chart :haha: .
Actually, I've become a shameless chart stalker over the past few weeks. :winkwink:

Hi ladies, thanks for welcoming me, I know if we have each other who shares the same experience it will be a little easier for us. I know that TTC is so stressful at time.
Hubby and I been married for years, and since then we are trying.
I was on follicle monitoring this cycle. Given clomid for 5 days. I was also given a shot of pregnyl so that i will ovulate. We just found out that I was nonovulatory. Although monthly period comes every month but sometimes (I don't actually know when) I ovulate :(
After the shot of pregnyl, I had my OPK positive. We are praying and hoping that this is our month. Please pray for us. Shower us baby dust.
By the way does anyone knows how many times should we have contact after my OPK turns positive?
thanks ladies, through this forum, my shoulders a little lighter now.

Hi divee, it is said that the egg lasts for about 24 hours from ovulation, so if your first positive OPK was today, it is possible you will ovulate tomorrow or the day after. If you are taking your temperature, you will notice a rise on the day you actually ovulate, just to be on the safe side, I would probably still Bd for another day after that.

Hope that helps.

Tracey. x

Nothing much going on here. It is a grey and rainy day, and still super humid. I am waiting for my Mom to come back from golf, and we may go off and do something. She has been wanting to go into Gravenhurst and go to this artists place. Plus I probably need to go grocery shopping, since I have to go back to work tomorrow, and won't be getting out for a few days. Just waiting for my follies to get bigger! The injectibles are making me a little crazy, I was in a bad mood yesterday, but that could have been the weather.

So glad that you got your crosshairs :) Sounds like you got some good BD'ing in, YAY! I hope this month is your month :dust:

SunFlower- 35 is NOT old :growlmad: LOL! I am 37 and 7 months prego with my 3rd dd :hugs: So it IS very possible! Keep your chin up- and you’ve come to the right place, tons of great info on this thread and such awesome ladies :friends:

Gncope- ouch, the needles sound terrible, btw I love your comment about the “7 Frosties” lol!

Twotogo- how are ya? Yes, I love stalking charts… It’s one of my addictions, lol!

Divee- WELCOME! :hugs: So glad the pregnyl helped and gotcha ovulating again  Fx’d! As far as bd’ing after a positive OPK…Sperm can live up to 5 days in good ewcm, so anytime 3-4 days prior to ov, then the day of ov, and the day after – any of those 3 scenarios should have ya covered!

Terri- how are you today??

Alin- oooo the TWW! :happydance: And yep, lifting some stuff, nothing really heavy though – dh handles that- as I am trashing our garage. I have decided if we can’t rearrange things so my car will ft again I’ll just throw most of it all away

Jess- good morning back atcha, but……but…..no test? In the words of my 3-year old…OOOOOOOoooo Welllll….:sadangel: lol! Your chart looks amazing…you’re 13 dpo, when will AF be officially late?

Ali- how are you feeling today? Are you taking Sunday off?? Go ahead and be PMSy just keepa short supply of chocolate on hand  and your Grey books… Should help!

AFM- I woke up late today around 7:30….but was up til midnight fighting this slow computer with my school. I am going to tackle the garage early today as it will be in the shade until afternoon. It gets too darn hot in the evening. Kind of like trying to do housework in hell  NO thanks! Cold root beer for me and some shade somewhere….

I am feeling pretty darn good though today, I cooked sausage and eggs for the fam for breakfast but had peanut butter on whole wheat for me- seems not to spike my glucose at all and good energy. Jess, what’s your opinion on peanut butter? I know the fats are there and I worry a bit about that, but… Once I have this baby I am TOTALLY going to hit the creatin and taurine!! :haha:

AFM-

It is strangely funny today tho…as I have been cleaningout the garage I noticed my junk pile wasn’t getting any bigger- despite the fact that I have been throwing away tons of stuff. So as I pay closer attention I notice my 7 year old slyly packing things back :growlmad: So we had a sit down and talking to :haha: She now understands that if she can’t throw the junk away then it’s gonna just ALL get thrown away :haha: Am I too tough on my kids? lol, silly girls.

Btw, danger zone for me, I am now addicted to Starburts candy :sad1: Rare that I eat candy but I love these things! I allow myself only 1-2 a day but they’re awesomely bad for you :cloud9: LOL

Ali & Jess--where are you? :nope:

Hey Coy!

That is too funny! Silly girl! She wanted to keep everything!
I have the same issues with my Mom and she us 70! I thow something out and she plucks it out. It is maddening!

Off to town.. gotta go get a watermelon. I'm making a watermelon cocktail for out cocktail party tonight. Yum!

I have to sort kids rooms out while they at school otherwise I put in throw away bag,and they take out and put in keep bag lol

So I was debating about testing in the morning...but I had some spotting this afternoon...probably not a good sign...I have a normal 27-28 day cycle and today is day 25....a couple of days early but probably means AF is on her way...
