Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

:saywhat: Where IS everyone?

Ali- do you have to to work through the weekend or do you get a couple days respite?

Jess- how are you? How did the birthday party go??

Hey Coy!

I'm here, kinda sorta. Had a dentist appt this morning to clean my teeth, look Mom, no cavities! :hehe: Then I ran to the store and bought my hurricane supplies. I'm outside the cone, but they are still saying tropical storm winds with gusts to 65mph and 5-10 inches of rain. So we could see some flooding. I'm in a lot of pain though. My head is really sensitive to the barometer and its definitely falling due to the storm, so of course my head is aching. :growlmad:

So we hired 2 new people, and they are starting on Monday, and I get to entertain/train them as Nate (boss) is still on vacation. I'm worried that we won't be able to get to work, the general rule is that if school is closed then our offices are closed. I just hope that someone has told the new employees that they need not come into the office if the schools are closed! I don't want to have to drive in there to meet them! :nope:

I'm still seeing :bfn: on my test strips, so I don't think I'm pregnant  I guess there are still a few more days before we'll know for sure. I'm assuming that the :witch: will show on Wednesday.

I hope AF and he storm stay far away from you!! We had a bad storm last year, Irene...couldn't fine batteries or candles anywhere, all stores were sold out. We got lucky and only lost power for a couple of hours, neighbors were without power for a week. Stay safe!

I have plenty of candles, batteries, canned food, water, aluminum pie plates I can use on the BBQ to warm food, a lantern, full tank of gas, dog food, etc. I should be OK, and I really don't think the storm is heading this way. We will have some high winds and rain, but unless Isaac decides to continue going NW, instead of the projected WNW, things should be OK here.

They just cancelled school in Miami/Dade and Broward counties, for Monday, I'm waiting to see if Palm Beach County will follow suit. If they do, then I won't be going to work on Monday, I'm still not sure if the office will even be open on Monday as its right on the border of PBC and Broward. Meaning many employees live in Broward.

I just want my headache to go away! I am afraid to take anything besides tylenol just in case I am indeed pregnant, and it is doing next to nothing to help my headache.:nope:

Coy.. can you take a look at my chart? I don't know what to make of it. Seems like my temps are all over the place? Either that or I'm implanting multiple times? I must say that right now I don't have any cramps down there, or back pain that I usually have as AF approaches. I did have some cramping earlier, it seems to come and go as opposed to being more constant when AF is approaching. Oh, and my BBS! OUCHIE! They are still so sore! They are definitely more so than normal. In fact usually they don't hurt much at all with AF. IDK, I just wish that my body would hurry up and tell me that I'm pregnant!! :haha: It is either that or I'm going to go insane

Oh Ali :hugs: You’re def going insane, but that’s the 2WW :haha: You’ll be fine…as for your chart- yeah, your temps are bouncing around but there is NO text-book example really to use for a bfp…All I can say is if a woman stays above her cover line that’s about average temps for a bfp. And your temps are well above your pre-ov cover line  Last month you were 15 dpo and dropped waaaay belove cover line. At this point I think you are looking good! Also no AF-- And month before that it was 13 dpo when you started to drop and then massive drop about 16-17dpo. At thispoint I am thinking your erratic temps could be due to other factors. One, all the meds oyu took in Canada, the gonal-F and menopur (sp) etc—I am wondering if they can effect your temps at all? If not, I am also looking at climate, your headaches, lack of sleep is a big one that I noticed in myself, my temps could be pretty gonzo if I didn’t sleep well.

So, in a nutshell, I think the bad headaches could be not only barometric but also hormonal  and can effect your temps. Look at Jess’ chart- her doc told her that her exercise routine could effect the patterns of temping, so I am thinking your crazy last few weeks could do the same thing. Just keep using those strips! No pic? You promised…:sadangel:….lol!

Still nobody? :nope:

Phil? Gncope? Terri? Ali? Alin? .......Ah, yeah, I forgot today is Sunday...I hope ya'll are catchin' a much deserved nap!

Wish I could catch a nap!

I'm here battling insane rain and wind, there is a heavy band over top of me right now. They have been coming intermittently all day, but this is the worst one thus far. I was told that it would get worse before it gets better. Well they weren't kidding! I was just about to let the doggies out too. :hehe: They would get blown away!!

I've been napping on and off but mostly due to my head. It freaking hurts! I do have a history of both barometric and hormonal migraines. So right now I guess we have the perfect storm of both! :growlmad: At least I won't have to go anywhere tomorrow, with the office closed :) I also worked with my boss to re-route the majority of the work we do to the Indy office (since we may or may not have power tomorrow). So that means a light day of work tomorrow for me, YAY!

As for the elusive :bfp: it is still being freaking elusive. I tested this morning with a IC and then this afternoon with a FRER and both were negative. I have had some spotting that appeared about an hour ago  I guess it could be IB as I'm 12DPO, but it could also be the beginning of AF? I don't feel like its AF, the cramps are mild and usually I feel as if I have pulled my back out the back pain is that bad. I don't have either of those symptoms. Just mild cramping and a little reddish brown spotting.

YIKES! This weather is getting even worse! Its a wonder we haven't lost power. I can't even see across the street due to the insane rain!

Coy-- so sorry we've been MIA, I hope you are doing well! Try to get some 'me' time in and take care of yourself! Is your DD being good and letting you sleep? Ali

Well today is cd12, got my darker line on the opk, felt a little pinching on my right side. I swear I almost never ovu on the left...wonder why. We bd this morning, should we keep bding as long as we have a dark line? Will the line get lighter after ovu? This is my 2nd month ttc and 1st using an opk. I hope dark line means I will ovu this month!! Alicatt be careful with the storm. As far as your headache, I have put 3 teabags in a shot glass of boiling water, let them seep and then drank it. The surge of green tea caffeine helped my migraines...Excedrin migraine has caffeine in it for this reason. If noy try pushing and massaging your temples or the trigger point in your hand between your thumb and index finger...just squeeze it until you feel the headache release. HTH!

Thanks for the tips on migraines, it is very trying not to be able to pop my migraine medicine, but it is not recommended for pregnancy, so I'm avoiding it.

I have never used the OPK strips, but have used the Clear Blue Easy ones with the happy face. They are pretty awesome, as they tell you with a happy face when you are ovulating. How much nicer can they be? :haha: The idea behind the OPK is to detect your surge, which it sounds like you have done! YAY! As long as you are surging you should be BD'ing. I would even BD the day after the surge ends. I have surged for up to 2 days, but everyone is different and each month is different. Once you have ovulated, the line will get lighter, and you'll officially be in the 2WW! GL!

Ali- Oooo, I wish I had just some of your wind and rain! :cloud9: It has been hot here…actually, the last couple of days we have had a few hours of clouds, that has helped a lot. As far as dd letting me sleep – nope :nope: Night before last was heaven she slept all night … but the night before that and last night she kept me up til about 5 am rotten little kid :haha: I let her fall asleep in my bed then put her to her own. She promises she’ll be good tonight  But that’s a big WE’LL SEE :growlmad: lol!
Re: cramping and spotting-def could be IB. Especially as it is brown. I am anxious to see your bfp, I know it is hard being patient, especially after all you have been thorugh. Keep your chin up! You such an awesome tough lady  Sounds awesome you are set for a power outage, smart of you to consider and prepare for it

BabyWhisperer- from what I understand once you get your first positive on opk you ov within 12-36 hours, so yeah, best to bd as often as you can within that time frame

AFM: Pooped today. Dh and I installed a new figitial tv antenna and it took a lot of hard work on my part watching him clinmb around on the roof and stuff :haha: Then I had to watch him lifting heavy gear, installing wires, etc…Wore me out  I did do some work though and it wa shot hout …. Got dinner for everyone and I am soooo ready for a good cool nights rest, with Kat soundly leeping for HOURS and hours in her OWN BED :haha: Am I a terrible mom?

Coy - No, you're not a bad mom. I would want my kids to sleep in their own bed for hours as well. I say that, but I used to let my kids sleep with me because my hubby worked night shift. I hated being alone. However, once they reached a certain age, that didn't happen any longer and they really didn't have trouble adjusting. (I might have, though :haha: )

Ali - Hope you don't get blown away! Stay safe. I'm glad you have your hurricane supplies ready and handy. My Fx'd for you!

Babywhisperer- have fun BD'ing!

AFM - I was napping yesterday! Friday I had a horrible migraine and it made me completely useless for the day. I had never had migraines until we moved here. I think I am getting them because there is mold in our house. This parsonage sat empty for 9 years as the previous pastor had his own home, so there was no maintenence taking place. :nope: The roof leaked for years (and still did for a while after we moved here, but they replaced the roof after a hail storm) and there is much mold in the attic, in the ceiling over the kitchen, and in the ceiling over our bathroom. Hoping they take care of it soon.
Saturday my kids were gokart racing - last race of the season- and I forgot sunscreen. :dohh: I'm fried in places.
I'm starting to babysit a 6 month old. She should be here within an hour. Her mom works 12 hour shifts, so I may be keeping her overnight and all through tomorrow. We'll see. She told me her baby doesn't go to bed until midnight. Ummmm, sorry, I go to bed by 10:00. I think she can adjust. Am I wrong to feel that way?

Okay, ladies, I could really use some perspective. I've been a bit crabby the last couple of days (which is unusual) but last night I wanted to blow up. I didn't, because I knew I would say things I didn't mean, and I also knew my hubby wouldn't back me, and would instead side with the kids. I really need the kids to see us on the same track.

My kids share the responsibility of doing dishes. We do not have a dishwasher. One will wash and dry a load and then the other will take their turn. Well, earlier this past week I was canning, and it was my son's turn to do dishes. I didn't want him to have to be saddled with the canning dishes, so I told him I would do those up and the few that were already in the sink. Thursday, I spent all day washing clothes - our washer is broken, so I am handwashing everything in the bath tub, which takes FOREVER- including their clothes. They usually do their own laundry, but I thought I would be nice since the washer is broken. Friday I had a migraine and didn't wash the dishes. Saturday we were gone all day and then when we got home I helped my son clean the Methodist church (my job, but he is earning money to buy something). So, yesterday I asked the kids to wash all the dishes (I had done some, but not all. I had definitely done more than the few dishes I told DS I would do) except for the few that were left that I had used canning. My kids, somewhat respectfully, disagreed with me. They explained that the way they do dishes is that one completely finishes what is there before the other one starts, so I should have completed ALL the dishes, and they shouldn't have to do any until the ones that had piled up were done. :saywhat: They went on nicely explaining how this should work. I finally said, "Do the regular household/everyday dishes, and I will finish up the canning pots/heavy stuff." Then they started trying to get specific on what was everyday. I went to the kitchen and moved my stuff aside, and told them what was left was their responsibility. My son (who was washing) complained about what was left. I told him they were everyday dishes... END OF CONVERSATION! He then later came in to complain about an ice cube tray.... really? DH just sat through this whole conversation and didn't say a word. I think from now on, they will have to do every dish, whether I'm canning, or baking, or doing a special project. I've tried to be nice about them not doing my extra dishes, but they always argue when I don't do up every single dish. I almost feel like I'm not the one in charge is this situation, which really frustrates me because I know I don't have DH's support. He says we need to give the kids more responsibility and more chores, but then he doesn't back me on it. ](*,) Am I wrong to be mad about this and decide to make them do it all? They are 14. It's not like they have a huge amount of responsibilities. Sometimes I wish I could send them to a local farm and have them work the farm for a few weeks so they could see how good they have it.

And now I'm crabby about something else. I was to be watching a 6 month old starting at 5:30 this morning. At 6:30, when she still hadn't showed, I texted her mom to see if she decided not to go into work today. Her mom texted back and said she was at work, but everyone was still asleep when she left. So she is just having her sister bring her baby over before the sister leaves for town. Have no idea what time that will be. It would have been nice if she would have let me know that she wasn't bringing her over this morning, as I have been up since 3:30 so I wouldn't over sleep and miss her.

Am I being grumpy and unreasonable about either of these situations?

Hi everybody, sorry I've been MIA, busy weekend. It's a bank holiday here in the UK today and I'm off work today, and also tomorrow as we get an extra company day:happydance:, how good is that?:winkwink:

Coy... I hope your DD settles tonight ok, and no you are not a bad mother. Being pregnant and getting comfortable in bed is difficult enough without a small munchkin tossing and turning beside you:winkwink:. At least the weather is a bit more bearable?

Ali... I got spotting at 14DPO this time so you're not out yet. I had weird cramps for like only 15mins, lighter cramps than AF and no dullness that I usually get with AF as well. GL honey!!!!!!!!!!!! :flower:

Jess... I hope you had a fab party at the weekend.

Twotwogo, Terri, Alin, Babywhisperer, how are you?

Lines on my HPTs are getting darker and symptoms are really kicking in already :happydance:. I'm mainly nauseous, loads of creamy CM and have the sore/tingly boob thing going on :haha:. I'm not complaining though, but am nervous. Every little twinge I think is that cramps starting  but I am positive and will just keep praying this is my sticky bean :cloud9: xoxo

Twotogo, you are not being unreasonable at all. I think you are bringing up your children to be very well rounded and respectful but it looks to me as if they are at their rebellious business regarding the dishes (I'm a poet :haha:). Granted the routine got a little messed up but at the end of the day you asked them to do something and just because it was out of their normal duties they balked a bit. If it were me I would basically say that there is so much to do at the moment (the canning and clothes washing etc) that some extra help may be needed, and you'd appreciate the help instead of them moaning. If that doesnt work to be honest if it were me I'd let them wash their own clothes. Your kids all seem pretty big now aren't they?

And re your childminding, I can't believe how insensitive some people are, although I obviously dont know her. Perhaps it slipped her mind to tell you? I'd just politely let her know what time you were up from and if she could please let you know in future so the same thing doesnt happen.

And this is for you  . I hope your day picks up xoxo

I agree with Angel. Your kids are just testing their boundaries which is perfectly normal as teens! Just need to be firm with them and don't let them get an inch! I like the idea that if they cause you more grief then you can add other chores, like their own laundry.

It was not very nice of your friend to forget to contact you this morning. I would have been frustrated too. I would talk to her and ask her to let you know if/when she is going to change plans. Either that or the next time she asks you can politely decline.

AFM - I fear AF is approaching  Still no :bfp: and all the signs of the :witch: are here. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. I know I haven't been trying long, but I can't afford to keep paying $3000 a month for this to work! I just don't know what to do to make it happen? :growlmad:

Ali - they usually do wash their own clothes. When they were 11 yrs old, they started complaining about the turn around time with the laundry (I didn't do it every single day like my MIL did when she lived with us) so I told them they could do their own since they didn't like how I did it. They have done their own every since, but as our washer is broken, I thought I would be nice and do theirs as well.
We are getting ready to sit down and chat about what happened last night, and I think I might make them do their own wash. Which will be difficult for them because we are leaving Wednesday morning to go out of town for a week, and my son has a lot of clothes that need washing. Oh, well. I'm tired of being nice.
What I really want to do is instill an ethic of everyone working together to get things done. Obviously, I've failed.

On the contrary it sounds like you are doing better than most families in instilling a strong work ethic. They are teens, and they will rebel, it is what they do! Now you just have to help them steer their rebelliousness into healthy channels, and keep up with the chores and the idea that if we all work together we can conquer all :)

How are you feeling girl? I'm cd13 and got dark lines on my opk on Saturday/Sun so we bd 2x Sat, 1x on Sun, lines started to fade last night but we bd again this morning. Does this mean I've ov'd? It's our 2nd mo ttc and 1st mo using opk. Should we bd tonight and tomorrow to if the lines started fading last night? I think dh is loving all the :sex:. I'm hoping this is our month!! :dust: and :hugs: to all you lovely ladies!
Jess... I hope you had a fab party at the weekend.

TwoToGo-

No, you are not being unreasonable! Washing the dishes is a fairly easy chore for children to perform . I for one am fairly strict when it comes to chores and kids. For example- my daughter will be 8 soon and asked for chores. So dh and I gave her
1) Make your own bed
2) Feed the Boston Terrier
3) Scrape your own plate after a meal.

Hmph! Wow, it is tough, and they do try every trick in the book. What you need to tell your ds about the ice tray deal, and this is just in my own words  “You just earned yourself double duty bud!” lol. Wow, I have truly done the bathtub clothes washing thing. Our washer broke down last year and that’s where I was at. Anyway I think you should start demanding equal shares and not worry about wether you are being tough or not. You can’t let your kids get away with having you do everything for them. They are old enough to handle that responsibility. And yeah, I think as they will benefit from your hard work canning then they SHOULD contribute by doing all the dishes :haha:

Angel- Thanks! Btw, it’s all looking positive, hope you get your bfp!

Ali- Got my fx’d for you, I don’t blame you for being frustrated though. You’re not out til :witch: shows up! And yeah, it can be expensive….as far as the cost I know of a lady on a different thread who just had her baby—she used donor sperm but I think she went about it differently and used the syringe method at home. As your tubes are clear I don’t see why you couldn’t do this. Fresh specimen may work better than frozen if it doesn’t work this month  I will read in her blog and find out more info for you. I will post a link to her thread as well. :hugs: :hugs: :dust:

BabyWhisperer- how are you today?

Jess- you’re MIA again! How are you?

Hello grey Eyes it has been awhile since I have been on, been trying to relax and keep my mind busy, it has been hard for me. I spoke with my doc. He sent me an email and said he is going to start me on clomid this coming cycle. I am scared, but yet excited and hoping this is going to do it for hubby and I, and hope soon I will be posting a BFP. Do hope I dont get all the bad side effects from the clomid. Sorry I have been MIA. hope all is well with you. Wanted to say hi to all the ladies hope all is well with all of you. HUGS HUGS FRIENDS
