Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hey ladies,

Yes, I have decided that when I do finally ovulate this cycle, I will make an appointment to see the doc, so if they can give me something to take, like Clomid or something, I would be able to take it once AF has started.

I really didn't know about any risk of cancer from long cycles. Still no Ovulation yet and when I do get it, the cycle will still be around 75-80 days or possibly more due to the 12 or so day luteal phase.

No, I haven't thought about acupuncture.

Ali, I'll definitely be on board to pick your new :spermy:

Coy, I'm really surprised, I thought you would have been a mother to 3 by now. I hope babes isn't getting too comfortable in there.

Twotogo and Babywhisperer, lots of :dust: to you both. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Baby and Ali-

Thanks for the chat ladies! You brightened my evening! :hugs: Go to sleep and hope you both feel better in the morning!

Ali- it is just that way...you think you "know" someone, right? Then you find out the truth. Is there any way you can get a refund of sorts or a credit financially because of dudes messed-up donations?

AFM- I am right behind you both...after I wash the dishes, clean the kitchen from dinner, put away left-overs, fold a load of laundry, tuck the dd's in, read them a story, say their prayers for the night, then take a long warm bath, and I plan on eating a bowl of vanilla ice cream smothered in Hersheys :cloud9: Then I hope to sleep for at least 6-8 hours then have a baby :haha:

:dust: :dust: to you both!

That is a good question Coy.. I'm not sure whether they will give a discount/rebate/refund on the sperm I have already bought and paid for. I would like to know how many children he has fathered and when? I know he is married and has 2 kids of his own. I do wonder whether any of his donor sperm has been successful. When I called to get more, they said they only had 1 vial left (this last cycle), so he is popular! No idea whether there have been successes though. HMMM.

One vial left out of how many? That's a good question to ask, and if there were any complaints or repeat users. He might just be the best of their inventory, but not better than other places inventory. Just a though. Man am I ever the skeptic :dohh:

I know that when I first got his sperm back in May/June he had over 50 vials available. So to be down to 0 in early Sept, is wild. He was meant to have a few more available in a few weeks, but that wasn't soon enough for me.
I might give them a call and ask more questions about that. Especially now that we know that his sperm is not that great (gene wise or DNA wise). If you read the profile I posted, he does seem perfect! Plus the picture, he's a good looking guy! ARGH, I wish I didn't have to pick another!

He was born in 1971, that is over 40. I would go for younger...figures dh is 2.5yrs younger :haha:

Baby- NUTS! I am sorry you are not feeling well :( Having a cold sucks but it is that time of year, right? So they tell us anyway  I know we had a run through with it a couple weeks ago and it is now starting to get cold here. The sun is warm but the wind- yeah, it's northerly and Brrrr! Yuk, winter is coming :haha: And I have heard that sickness can affect your bbt but I am not positive to what extent, e.g., your bbt seems awfully high just from a cold...how is your waking temp, do you have a fever?

Angel- :hugs: I read through your post and I swear I learn new stuff every day! All you ladies are amazing! :hugs:

TwoToGo- Oooo Exciting! :headspin: I can't wait for you to test with the FRER! Equate is infamous for fading so no worries :hugs:

TerriLou- great advice from Ali, I think it is important for your health AND a bfp to try and shorten your cycles :hugs: I have never tried Vitex, I did Clomid and Black Cohosh and that worked to get me regular again, but every woman is different, please talk to your doc about the possible avenues

Ali- is he (previous donor) cute? Handsome? Hot ? :haha: That could explain his popularity. I just wondered because if they did not declare all of his history and they were required to do so then that seems like a breach you know? But I am not sure how the legality of all this works either  I think you should find him and kick his butt :haha: But I understand it doesn't work quite that way  Oh, just got to your post about his stats- awesome, but no pic :nope: lol! (I know, I am always demanding pics aren't I? :) ) Actually he seems pretty average as far as stats, I mean 3.0 GPA is good right? ...other than that it doesn't say too awful much but they do go in to family history  which is a bonus. He must be awesome to look at but I can't see the pic :nope: BUT if his swimmers are, um, less than motivated probably best to keep looking  Baby has a good point too - 40's is not old but maybe shoot for something younger just to spike up the odds a bit?

Jess- where are ya lady?

AFM- no baby yet  I am impatiently waiting :coffee: They should have a finger drumming emoticon or a thumb twiddling emoticon on bnb :growlmad: lol! I could use it! I woke up this morning with my hips aching like crazy again- the spreading . My lower back too. It hurt so bad I felt kind of sick but then it went away. It took a good 45 minutes for me to realize the pain was coming in a pattern and made me wonder if it was like back contractions or something? I have never had those to my recollection but it could be. Anyway, I got up and took a hot shower to relax the muscles and feel better. My appointment is today, so we'll see what - if anything- has changed in the last week :growlmad:

Coy! I was hoping you'd be on! How are you feeling? I am sure you must be ready to start jumping on a trampoline if it meant you'd go into labor. What does your gut say? Where do you live? We have been having rainy/grey days, but it looks like it will be sunny and a high of 80 on Friday, but going back down to hi 60's and 50s at night...even saw one night in the forecast that will be 45. Dh is going to freak.

How does my chart look? Cp is high, does that mean af is coming? My temp was 98.67 this morning, up from 98.55 yesterday. Head cold symptoms are stronger in the morning and before I go to bed. I'm ok right now, just head feels heavy. 9dpo or at least the tww needs it's own emoticon too!

Does it say he was born in 71? I could have sworn when I picked him he was born in 73! (A year younger than I am). FS said that doesn't mean anything as men don't have the same issues that women do with aging and being less fertile. When you look at the motility and the quantity and all those pieces of information, his sperm is excellent. It wasn't until the embryo started to tank that my FS said... HMMM.

Here is a picture of the guy, and I'm not sure if you can see all of this on his (free) profile, but he is a Pro Golfer and his brother is a Pro Baseball player. His family appears to be healthy, no cancer, or serious ailments, not mental issues or alcoholism. His only faults that I could see were: needing corrective lenses and being allergic to penicillin. Otherwise, he was literally perfect! That is why I'm so frustrated!!!!

Tracey,

Make sure you get an appt before you start your period. If they want to start you on and medication like clomid, they usually have you start it on somewhere between CD2 and CD5.
I would really strongly suggest you call them about your long cycles. This was coming directly from my OBGYN. Do not allow your cycle to be longer than 60 days, it has a (can't remember how much) but has been seen to increase your risks for uterine cancer. It has to do with how long the uterine lining stays without being shed. If it stays to long, the cells can fester. I wish I could remember exactly what he said, but it was 2+ years ago!
I still think trying a supplement would be a good idea. Angel's Dr actually added Vitex to her regimine (if you look back at her posts a few days ago).
I'm just one of those people that are super impatient and I refuse to wait on things. So I'm sorry if I keep being persistent about this, it is just my nature to try to fix something that is not working as it should!!! (I'm stubborn)!! :haha:

I recently read that the age of the male is really what determines things like Autism and other abnormalities. It's not all about our age, thank God! Ultimately it's your choice and what speaks to you. You could always try that same donor again. Go with your instincts.

I am going to search for someone else. My criteria will be similar, I want someone that will compliment me. I had a 4.0 GPA, IQ of 139, never took the SATs (we don't have them in Canada). So I want someone that is moderately smart, but things like athleticism is perhaps a little more important to me simply because I'm lacking in that department. I am very good at individual sports, skiing and swimming, and any water sports, but I would love to have a child that gets into soccer or baseball or something like that. The guy also has to have similar coloring to me. I would like him to be fair haired (red, blonde, light brown), fair eyed (blue, hazel, green) and be relatively tall (5'11 or taller). It would be nice to see that he likes the outdoors, or plays an instrument, or has other interests. Not sure I really care what they are, as long as he has some. If they have taken any personality tests, I would like to see that he is at least a middle of the road kind of guy (on the introvert/extrovert spectrum) or an extrovert. I was really shy as a child and I have since come out of my shell, but it would be nice that if my child was able to handle themselves socially with ease.

So that is my list, pretty much the same as before, but this time I want all of that but in a younger specimen! OMG is it even possible? LMAO!

BabyWhisperer - I didn't know that about the male sperm being the factor that may cause autism! Very interesting! Finally something we can blame them for!! :haha:

Baby- no, a high cp is not necessarily a sign of impending AF. In fact could be the exact opposite... I read that the cervix will stay high, firm, and closed if you are pregnant. I have never actually deliberately checked my cp (freaked me out! lol) but that is what I have read  Could be your month! When will AF be due or late?

Ali- I agree with Baby I think you should follow your gut on this one. If you feel after several attempts with this guy that you should try another- then go for it! And yeah, I'm thinking age isn't always a factor with men, I mean my dh is 54'ish and no problems  And I think it is important to inspect the "smart" aspect but a lot of that comes from diet, influence, etc, so yeah if you feel like focusing on athleticism as a larger role player then that's awesome! I mean I am trying to keep a high gpa (is 3.79 bad?) and my dad was a drop-out so... I do know that my kids are genius :smug: lol! (Typical bias mom, right? :haha:) Re: social confidence. O my heck, I was tongue-tied as a kid but my folks were always telling me how ugly and inept I was...I was terrified someone would look at me, you know? But as I grew older I forced myself to overcome it...now ya can't shut me up! I think with our kids one thing we have done to really encourage social ease is confidence. You're smart, you're beautiful, et cetera. Confidence and security go a long way for kids :hugs:

Very true! I was just super shy. Wanting to fit in, but feeling like an outcast. I got over it, once I gained some self confidence and now I really could give a rats a$$ what people think of me  I just do what I want and go with it!

I am going to pick a new donor, I'm just frustrated that this guy didn't work out, ya know? He was pretty awesome (at least on paper), and pretty good looking too! At least I thought so!!

Ali- are you ready for Canada? I am glad you are flying though! Beats the long drive, almost a week of drive time total! I bet your family is getting excited too :hugs:

I could feel it this morning a little bit, but now I can't even reach. I don't have enough experience to know if it was firm, medium or soft. Af is due anywhere from today - Saturday. I will test Saturday if af doesn't show. I literally check every time I use the bathroom.

Baby, lol, prob no need to check every time :) If it is that high I'd say that's a great sign  I have read that typically, the cervix is low, closed, and firm during menstruation and a few days after, but at pregnancy is high...

OMG I am having a fit with this online bil pay crap! Aaaargh! So my payment is scheduled for account #1 on Monday- never goes thorugh. Ispecifically tell them not to use account #2. Today they tell me they did use account #2 :hissy: but it has not been debited. Then they say they think maybe they actually used account #1  instead but that hasn't been debited either. OMG why is it so hard to spend money??:hissy:

Thanks hun. I'm high and out of reach praying for a bfp, and you're low, effaced and about to give birth! I'm hoping your baby dust has magical powers. No sore bbs though which has me concerned.

As far as bill pay...I just went through that with Verizon and they either are epically inept or pathological liars!

Yeah, when I got back home from my interview, I checked the test and even the negative line was gone. Weird!

AFM - the interview went well. It was the shortest interview that I've ever had. She said that she was looking at me for the HR position, and that they would work around my hubby's day off and my minister's meetings. She said that there were 2 others they were looking at, and she had to get with the GM of the company. Don't know when I will find out. If that position doesn't work out, they have a part time retail sales position open. I'm hoping to get the HR position as the duties are sooooooooooo easy.

Yeah, when I got back home from my interview, I checked the test and even the negative line was gone. Weird!

AFM - the interview went well. It was the shortest interview that I've ever had. She said that she was looking at me for the HR position, and that they would work around my hubby's day off and my minister's meetings. She said that there were 2 others they were looking at, and she had to get with the GM of the company. Don't know when I will find out. If that position doesn't work out, they have a part time retail sales position open. I'm hoping to get the HR position as the duties are sooooooooooo easy.

Aww, well test tomorrow, another day means more hormone!

The interview sounds like it went great. If not they could have used your dh's day off & minister meetg's as an excuse to go with another candidate. Sounds promising! FX'd you get the HR position!!

Ali- are you ready for Canada? I am glad you are flying though! Beats the long drive, almost a week of drive time total! I bet your family is getting excited too :hugs:

I'm excited to get there, but I see a list a mile long of things I need to do before I go! Between running errands, packing and making lists for my ex bf and my friend that are sharing the dog sitting chores. Plus my head is aching again!

My house is now clean, thanks to my running around like a batty woman at lunch, and then my cleaning lady came, so that is a good start. I am mostly packed, just need to add toiletries, undergarments and shoes. I have to pick up my jeans that are at the store ready for me. Plus see if they have any other winter-like clothing that I just can't live without. :haha: I'm trying to be good and not buy too much, I mean I can wear my fleecy PJs around the house, and only really need 1-2 outdoor outfits. I just don't have the wardrobe for real fall/winter weather in Canada anymore. I wear sandals and sleeveless shirts almost all year long in Florida!

BabyWhisperer - I certainly hope this is your BFP!!! I don't know much about CP. I've only ever been able to feel mine once or twice. The last time I felt it , it felt bumpy? I was like what is that? Last time I felt it, it was smooth like my nose. I gave up trying. I think you just have to wait and see what happens on Saturday! I know, hard to do, but unless you are POAS and getting positives, there is no real way to know for sure that you are BFP or BFN. Even getting a BFN doesn't necessarily mean you aren't pregnant either. It is entirely maddening! Only thing we can say is that your chart, and everything looks good! Just keep thinking happy thoughts and try to be patient. AHHHH.. and I know how impossible that is!!!!! Remember last week? I was a crazy woman!

Ah, well, I figured out about the online bill pay.
Yeah.
They want more money.:saywhat:

I know. It's not looking promising. Bbs aren't even sore, just getting full like they do for af. I have a feeling she's coming tomorrow. Yup, I'm going nuts.
