Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Aha- why not Lupron again?..? Nuts, I am trying to keep up, lol!

I guess my main point was to show how to self-inject and to realize it's not all half-bad? The lady in the first video TOTALLY psychs herself out and then once the needle is in she's like  lol

I know, all these different meds, and all the different protocols, and the timing of everything

So in the long lupron protocol you start with birth control pills, and about 5 days before you stop them, you start the lupron. Then you take the lupron each day until you go to your ER. A few days after you stop BCP you'll get your period, but you'll keep taking the lupron. Then on day 3ish you'll start the stims, and you'll take these up until ER. 36 hours before ER you do your trigger shot. Then starting on ER you take Medrol and Doxycyline for 4 days. Then on ET day you start doing progesterone and estrogen supplementation. That is the long lupron protocol.

The other protocol, that I did my first cycle and that Sams is doing is mostly the same but without the BCP and Lupron. There is also a different protocol called the Lupron flare, this protocol is used by women that have diminished ovarian reserve. It causes the body to make as many follicles as it can, but this is only necessary if you have been a poor responder in the past. They usually start you out with a basic protocol like Sams is doing, and I did my first cycle. Then based upon how it goes, they may try the long lupron or the lupron flare. The long lupron was helpful for me as it got all my follicles to behave and grow at the same rate. I was able to get a lot more mature eggs in my second round in part to this change.

AFM- I stuck myself. I'm on my way!

:wohoo: It wasn't that bad right?

I stuck myself and said to my husband I can't do this and he said pull it out... I kept saying but I can't do this and he said you did it already...:ignore::saywhat::ignore::saywhat::ignore:

Yep! The lead up to it is WAY worse than doing it. So now you just have to keep doing it!

You asked about Advil.. I think they prefer just Tylenol, but ask your FS in the morning. Oh, and it's normal to be on a dose of antibiotics. It's to clear out anything you or your DH may have that could hurt your chances.

Watching the Oscars.. what do you all think?

Sam- :wohoo: Yay! You did it! See?! I said you were tough :smug:

Twiggers- eh, um,, just tell him to lay beack and be still :haha:

Ali- you have such great advise always! :hugs:

Just wanted to post and say hello...I've been reading a lot of posts here and am glad to have found this forum.
I am 38 (29 in June), and have been ttc since September. I was on BCP for about 10 years, and stopped taking them in August, but did not have a period. I finally went to the doctor in January and was prescribed Metformin (500mg 2X) and am so excited that I finally got my period last week (I would have been more excited to skip straight to a BFP, but I'll take any indication of movement in there at this point). I plan on starting OPK this week. My doctor was very optimistic but said come back in April if I'm not pregnant yet. Of course I'm hoping to get a BFP this month. I feel like I spent the last 20 years trying to avoid getting pregnant at any cost, and now all I want is to conceive. I'm also so nervous about the extra risks of being older, but trying not to stress out about it too much.
Hope to make some friends here.

Morning everyone and welcome PrincesSparkl,

Well, I've just spent the last hour or so reading the last couple of pages and I have learned so much about IVF, Ali, you are so knowledgeable, a great person to know, I'm sure you have helped a lot of people by sharing your experience, I just really hope it all ends in a BFP for you when you do this again for real. You deserve it so much.

I'm feeling a bit better now, I'm not bursting into tears as much, but I know that its going to be about a year before I will get my BFP as if I go for the operation, I won't be able to TTC for 6 months afterwards, but it will be the quickest way for me really as the way I am at the moment, it won't happen or if it does, there will be so many risks. I'll get there, going to phone my Doctor today to make an appointment so that I can arrange a consultation. I'm going to try to push for this to all go quite quickly as I'm so fed up of waiting. I feel like I've wasted the last 2 years of TTCing.

Hey, onwards and upwards!!!!

Sams, good for you for 'sticking' yourself. It must take a lot to poke yourself with a needle. You're one brave Woman and well done for you putting your foot down too. Docs over here are really slow too.

My Mother-in-Law phoned her Doctor the other day for a issue she is having, they told her that the next appointment is at the end of April. They didn't even ask her what it was for or anything. I thought mine were bad that you can only book 3 weeks in advance, but 6 weeks, thats rediculous. I think we should have a similar system over here where we pay for treatment, that'd stop people just going in when they have a cold or something. Everything is so slow over here!

Jess, I know it was a couple of pages back, but I have to agree with the others. You normally get the EWCM a few days before 'O', which is the 'best' time to get some :sex: in, but you are still fertile on the day of 'O' and they recommend that you stil :sex: the day after too. There was definitely still time for you, hope you managed to get some :sex: in. :dust:

Morning Ladies and welcome PrincesSparkl!

Just got back from my FS appt. Lining is 10.5 up from 7.7 on Friday, so its basically growing 1mm a day. They upped my dose of Estrogen from 0.4 to 0.8! I tried to get an understanding of why? I don't want it to get to 19mm again! :dohh: I didn't get to see the FS, but he conferred with the nurse who said that 0.8 was correct. I go back Thursday morning for a repeat, US, bloodwork and another shot. I'll get a call this afternoon about my E2 level, I am guessing it is over 1000 now. I guess we'll see?

PrincesSparkle- yay I am so excited for you! I know how you feel- I was on BC for years and stopped getting my period as well. For me it was a round of Clomid and Black Cohosh before it came back :winkwink: I will be 38 in spring also and just gave birth to our 3rd dd  Looking forward to seeing your :bfp: soon!

Terri- wow, it sounds like you have settled pretty much on what you are going to do. Hey for convictions! In a way you may be right in regard to saving time by going this route?, but please don't view the last 2 years as wasted- not in any sense do I believe so. You have learned a lot and the last 2 years has gotten you to this point. Soon- :bfp:

Sam- heheh, you'll be old hand at this now- sticking yourself with a needle! My dh does it and doesn't even feel it anymore. I knew you were tough!
Ali- ok, awesome, I followed you right up to E2. Hell is that?! :haha: OMG, you are leaving me in FS desert! lol! I'm going to look it up. AhA! Estrogen, gotcha. Right, so I wonder why they bumped it up so much? Maybe just to see if it will work "on short notice" so to speak? Why oh why do we try to figure doctors out? I think they just just do what we tell them

Jess- where are you? Ahhhhhh for the 2WW I am going crazy FOR you!

Chantal- we miss you!!! Come back :laugh2:

Andra, Alin, - you two ladies are MIA for too long!

Angel- how are you? I don know, I was thinking in this job market I would reach out and tackle the high crime streets of Glasgow! :laugh2: Mood I'm in today- look out lol.

AFM- Ok, so -odd. My temp spiked this morning and I think I am sitting at 9dpo- if I ov'd on the 16th which is what I am thinking. Anyway, looking back at my other charts AF came at about 8 dpo. So no AF yet  Hmm..:baby: lol! :argh: I am wondering if my temp this morning wasn't a little hinkey maybe

You got it.. E2 = estrogen, and P4 = progesterone! I think they are following a general protocol for me as if it were a normal FET. So they want to do things exactly the same as they normally would. Then the biopsies will be tested and they will create a new protocol based on the results of the biopsies. So if this normal adjustment causes my lining to get too thick, then when we do the real one they won't give me the increased dose

Coy - how do you feel? Do you feel like AF is coming? Do you feel like you are :baby: again? Have you POAS? I think that you should if you don't see AF by tomorrow. Wouldn't that be a skit? You pregnant again? :argh: EEK!

Ay ay ay! I love my babies but I want to get all :bodyb: again first!! Yes, I poas this morning--far as I can tell it's negative. Phew! :haha:

Yep I hear you, a few more months would be good. Time for you to get your body back and to have a little rest between babes.

SamsFan... good luck over the next few weeks, we're right here with you

Welcome PrincessSparki! Yippee for AF returning and good luck for this cycle. I'm 38 as well, turn 39 in July. I'm currently TTC no.2 but am plagued with RMCs, the story is in my signature...

Terri, HI. I'm glad to read that you have made some decisions, the time will fly by. I can't believe that it's been 5 months since my last MC and I am just now back TTC. Keep us posted as I'm keen to hear how you get on x

Ali.... hmmmm sorry I can only read and learn from your posts as I have no experience in the area. I'm sure the doc knows what he is at though so try and have faith.

Coy... oh la la, 9dpo is also quite early for a BFP but I know what you mean about getting back into shape. I was outdoor walking within 2 days and power walking within a fortnight after Kyan, it felt good to shift those baby pounds.

Twiggers... a bit of :sex: might put DH's back back into shape!:haha:

Busy as ladies, two twenty page applications finished today, though not for Glasgow Coy although I do wonder now if I made the right decision with that one . We'll never know.. I've another 2 applications to complete tomorrow . I cant wait to get finished now, 8days to go!!!!:happydance::happydance::happydance:

Hey Coy- I think if may be a fluke. I don't think your preggers! How are you doing. I stuck myself this am too all by myself:haha: It's really not that bad. Your dh must be one tough guy

welcome princessparkle

I hope Chantal is doing well and is in baby happiness

Alicatt- you are always the voice a reason on the board.

AFM- I have such a headache ever since I started sticking myself. The doctor called they said my sugar was way high and they want me back tomorrow morning. Maybe I'm getting practice and I'll need insulin soon too. Anyway, I think its because I couldn't help myself saturday night. I had the best general tso chickens and I understand it has alot of sugar.

No coffee today:coffee: I forgot at lunch and had diet soda, but I'm on the water. I also went for a walk this morning and I'm staying away from the carbs... :happydance: when I can't workout I want to workout .. crazy:dohh:
