Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ali- The scan went well. All is normal. I'm so exhausted today! Headache. How are you doing?

Funny story..I went to the pharmacy to get my antibiotics for my test. At the counter was a young lady w her boyfriend asking for Plan B. The pharmacy didn't have it and she was cursing. If life were that easy! I rolled my eyes.. I couldn't help myself.

Ladies can someone look at my chart? I was too tired to get groovy yesterday. Im too tired most of the week. Maybe, that is my problem I think my surge is creaping up on me but I cant tell.

I would say that you are getting there just based on your CD. So it looks like you should start trying!

How did your scan go? Did you already say? My brain has been a little out of it lately.

Hey all! Sorry for being such a bad BnBer but things have been crazy.

How is everyone?? I have to say at this point I was not expecting Phil to still be preggers!! How are you feeling girl?

Coy - snow huh, it was in the 40s here and going up to 55 this weekend! I want snow!!

Ali - I hope you get rid of those migraines soon. Is there anything you can to do to help it along? Exercise? Acupuncture?

How is everyone else? I still need to catch up on everyone's posts. I tried last night but had such a headache I fell asleep on the couch early then went up to bed.

I am slowly getting over this cold. I had to go on an antibiotic and cough medicine, but at least the crazy fever is gone. I am still coughing, my nose is a faucet, but I'm getting there. As a result of the fever for 4 days it has delayed ovu, I got a + opk today and ewcm at cd16 which is really late for me. This is going to be a longer cycle as per my acupuncturist. The fever will delay ovu, my period and make the cycle probably 4 days longer to correspong with the 4 days I had a fever. Interesting. I hope to have the energy to bd tonight. I am going to work earlier now. I catch a 6:24 train and not the 6:53, and believe me waking up a 1/2 hr earlier is tough! It is pitch black, but I need to up my game. We hired a 51yr old and a 67 yr old guy and they can live on 5hrs sleep...I cannot. I have done 3 sessions of acupuncture at Yinova and next week I start herbs as well. She said they want my period to start with fresh red blood and not brownish pink like it has been, and the herbs also deepen what they do while I have the needles in. Since I've been going I have been very good about gluten, dairy and eggs. I am taking a more laid back approach to ttc while doing the acupuncture...I need to get things balanced before I go back for a 2nd opinion from another RE. And once this cold is completely gone I am headed back to the gym. For now I am early to bed, early to rise, and trying to get back to healthy!!!

And btw Coy...I'm jealous of your straight hair! Each strand of my hair has a mind of its own and I need to do keratin treatments to tame the frizz in the NY humidity!!!

Hi BabyWhisperer! So glad you are improving. I bet the acupuncture will do wonders for you. I wish I knew what to thank for my improved fertility, acupuncture, supplements, my determination? IDK. I really hope that just calming down and working on your health gets you where you want to be! Dare I ask how DH is doing with the propecia? Or is that still a tense issue?

I wish there was something I could do for these headaches, migraines whatever they are. It is just due to some people being estrogen sensitive, and I'm one of those people. I have just been taking excedrine migraine and benadryl (the caffeine in the excedrine would keep me up at night without it). I'm such a wimp when it comes to caffeine, just a tiny amount and I'm wired. They will go away, probably in another week or so? They will disappear just like that, and one day I'll just be normal again. I can't wait!

Here is hoping for a good cycle for you! Even with being sick. Make sure you take time for yourself so you can rebound and heal quickly!

I have curly hair...but I blow it straight everyday!... so I guess we all have straight hair.:flower:

It seems like we all have dead straight hair on here, doesn't it? I have recently cut mine really short, well, the left side anyway! It was half way down my back before I went to Egypt last May and it has gradually gotten shorter since then. I like my new style, its quite tom-boyish, but thats me really! Lol!

Coy, you look gorgeous in that pic and I agree with the others, keeping it long is right for you, but I like the pic on the right above.

It just makes you shake your head! UGH. Oh well  what can you do?

I think I am O'ing tonight, and I have a stomach virus. I wouldn't let my hubby touch me even if he wanted to, which he doesn't because he's also not feeling good. :nope: Darn flu! :hissy:

So unfair! Stupid flu  Well hopefully you feel better for next month! I really hate this time of year for those reasons. So far KNOCKING ON WOOD I have not succumbed to it. However people are dropping like flies around me. So many people have it at work. Sometimes I think its best if I just become a hermit and stay home! My best friend that also works for my company said she is getting sick. I told her she better not come into work tomorrow or I'm going to lock her in her office! LOL. Well not really, but we do have a policy that sick people are supposed to work remotely so they don't infect the rest of us!

Oooh I have always wanted to visit Egypt. Must have been a fascinating trip! How are you TerriLou?

Hey Never, Egypt was great, I completed my scuba diving qualification while I was there. We didn't do any sight seeing or anything as it was a diving holiday, but I loved it. Would go back to visit the Pyramids one day. Politics are making visiting Egypt a bit different now, but its still a lovely place to go to.

Nothing to report for me, I'm in that 'waiting to ovulate' stage, which for me could be another week or 6! I'm hoping I'll get put on Clomid for my next cycle as thats what my Doctor mentioned last time I saw him. I wish I could use Metformin, but apparently my Hospital doesn't recommend it, although the one in the nearest City does.

I watched a TV program on a Fertility clinic in Liverpool last night and out of 5 couples, only 1 got a BFP. Another couple got theirs on their second attempt. I found myself hiding the odd tear while I was watching it, then I watched 'One Born Every Minute' a Channel 4 programme on over here and totally balled my eyes out! Its funny, sometimes I'm not affected by watching it, but every now and then, probably due to watching the other programme as well on this occasion, but I can't stop myself from letting it all out! I'm OK this morning though.

Terrilou - I used to scuba dive in Barbados when I was at college. The sea creatures must have been very unique in Egypt. When I started working I found that getting up at 5 am on my day off was too exhausting. So I took up martial arts :ninja: instead which worked out better for me as it started at 7:30 pm so I would go straight from work. The only bad thing was that I was eating dinner at 9:30 pm 3-4 days a week. My Mom kept telling me eating so late was bad for my body. The karate gave me such energy though! :grr: I had to stop because it started affecting my joints. It started with my knee and I had to go to the physio and chiro all the time. I can only go on short hikes now because after 2 hours my left knee just gives out :growlmad: Makes me feel old.

Yes it is sad to watch those shows on ivf's and women giving birth.:( I get all teary when I watch Make room for multiples. Dh doesn't understand happy tears. He thinks if it makes me cry stop watching it.

Twotogo- Sorry that you are so ill with the flu. :sick:I have not had my flu shot so have tried not to go out much till I get it. I know I need to get it before I travel to Barbados. My Dad already caught a cold from work last month and then passed it to my Mom. That's the only time I ever get a cold or flu when I fly. A group of friends want to go skying this weekend. It will be a learning experience for me but I am afraid of catching the flu.
I get a flu shot every year. I don't know why I neglected this year when it is worse than ever. Maybe I'll go to a pharmacy so I don't have to wait to see the doctor.

Ali- Your workplace has a great policy to work remotely when sick. I used to hate going for routine checkup at the doctor and while in the waiting area there would be lots of people sneezing
and 2 days later would have a cold or stomach bug. Poor you with those migraines. My after effects of IVF was depression and constipation but I was lucky I didn't get migraines. I hope you start to feel better soon :hugs:

BabyWhisperer- Glad to hear that you are recovering from the flu. Missed you!

Coy- How was the snowstorm? At least you were all ready with all the wood you cut. Here the school children have a snow day when just a foot of snow falls :haha:

Philomena- I have a feeling today is the day! I read that primrose oil helps move labor along but you probably have done that already. Thinking of you :hugs:

How is everyone else doing? I have high hopes for 2013 :dust:

Sam- I am glad your scan went well! Time to get some rest woman! Don't overdo it stress is hard enough to deal with  Is there anything you can do to just relax and have fun? (ps..been following your chart your temp seems a bit on the rise??? )

Ali- darn migraines! Stupid estrogen! :grr: There! I am ranting for you! :haha:

Babywhisperer- wow, this flu seaoson this year is tough! I have been hearing of bad outbreaks everywhere so been keeping the dd's at home and def not taking babes out for anything. I hear Boston is bad? Take care of yourself, so glad you are getting better! :hugs:

Andra- nuts for the stupid flu! You too??!! O my gosh, everyone has had it. Even Jess has had a bug according to her FB site....Hope you get feeling better soon. My dh says that bd'ing makes him feel better :haha: Silly man :haha: Maybe try it .....

Terri- I would have loved to have seen Egypt! Before all of the rioting and protesting of course. It sounds amazing!

It just makes you shake your head! UGH. Oh well  what can you do?

I also now have a whole different attitude about accidental pregnancy. I can't make it happen, and after all I have learned, it is a wonder anyone ever gets pregnant, then some people ovulate like slot machines and accidentally have not one but several children. Have any of you seen the beginning of Idiocracy? My situation with my husband makes me think of that; we both have IQs above 160, are healthy, and reasonably attractive. And infertile. Meanwhile every moron I know is cranking out the kids with reckless abandon. Ah, yes.

Boy oh boy am I ever in a grumpy mood.. serious rant coming on...

So I'm supposed to be training this new guy, but he won't let me get a word in! How am I supposed to train someone that already thinks they know what they are doing? When I tell him no, and point out the difference between what he is doing and what should be done he gives me a look like, you don't know what you are talking about and ignores me! By the end of the day I wanted to punch him. AHHHHHHH. There is a reason we have these rules and they need to be followed. Not doing so is going to cost you your job. Seriously, it will. He doesn't want to learn I have decided. So I'm not going to train him tomorrow.

So that is part 1 of my rant. Part 2 is this. I normally stay late at work on massage night because there isn't much point in racing home for 5 minutes getting the dogs all excited then walking out the door. The doggies have water and a doggie door, so they can do their thing and I don't worry about them. So I leave work an hour later than normal and start heading to my massage. Then I come upon a major accident, the kind that you can just tell you are going to be stuck in for a LONG time. Sure enough, I walk into my massage place around 7:35 for my 7:30 appt, and the woman says, well your masseuse called in sick! I'm like WHAT? She said, well we called her clients. I'm looking at my phone, no missed calls, think, hmm, maybe they left a message at my home? NOOOOOO. I have call display, no missed calls. So not only am I not having a massage right now, I also gave my company an extra hour of my time, and then sat in traffic for an hour, and wasted 2 hours of my life because some idiot didn't bother to call me to tell me that my masseuse was sick! :grr: :growlmad:

The good news is that I'm home, have my little Zach curled up in my lap and Zoe at my feet. I just hate it when you have crumby days, that could be avoided! On the bright side, my day probably went better than the person in the accident that caused the traffic jam!

It just makes you shake your head! UGH. Oh well  what can you do?

Jen - it is something I have wondered about, why is it that those that so desperately want a baby, have the means and the ability to provide for a child financially, emotionally, intellectually, are the ones that have the most trouble procreating? Yet, if you don't have a college education, are incapable of looking after yourself and/or don't have 2 pennies to rub together you are likely to get pregnant? I know I'm exaggerating a little here, but it does seem like there are plenty of children born into situations that are not ideal.

Coy - how goes the battle of school and DD's and DH?

Phil - baby news? I'm assuming so since you have been missing since yesterday morning. I hope it is good news!

You are def determined!! I admire you. I am already needing a break. We bd last night when I got a +opk, I had a +opk this morning but when I came home from work it was gone. I want to bd again but dh looks wiped out since he's been working late every night at home.

The propecia thing hasn't really been discussed since Monday. Dh needed my help financially for the club and I had a long talk with him. If asking me for major financial help for something he wants to do for his career isn't asking too much then neither is going off propecia. If I am potentially going to go on fertility meds to help us get our bfp, why stay on something that hinders it. If the club is for us and our future, so is making the most of ttc..with ART or not...why waste time not making the best of each chance we get right? Well he finally got it, that and having a Dr tell him it hurts all aspects of sperm...how could he deny it. I guess I never realized how scared he was to possibly lose his hair.

I have to admit we watched Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban while I was sick, and they have that tree that literally loses its' leaves in one shot...I started laughing and he was wondering why and I didn't have the heart to say "omg that's what you think will happen to you", and that made it worse, I had the church pew giggles something fierce.

How are you Samsfan? What's new with you?

So +opk yesterday and this morning, bt it's gone...could we catch the egg by bd tonight? Or is it past?

BabyWhisperer - so glad your DH finally saw the light with respect to the propecia. I had to LOL at you and the tree that loses its leaves. That is too funny! Your poor DH. He must have some serious fear about losing his hair. Personally I think that some men are super sexy without hair! You have to have the head for it, but man, it can be quite alluring.

You should BD a few days before and up to 2 days past surge. The rule is that :spermy: live up to 96 hours, and eggs live between 24-48 hours. So to make the most of your fertile window, you can :sex: 4 days before ovulation and up to 2 days past ovulation. Most don't :sex: every day, unless they are 20! but if you :sex: every other day during this period, you should get enough in. Heck really it only takes 1 little :spermy: to make it up to the egg and burst inside.

When you think about it from the logistics standpoint, most men have 20+ million sperm in each deposit, and the EWCM makes it easy for them to get into the uterus, so lets assume that 5 million make it to the uterus, 3 million swim in circles in the uterus, 1 million find the left tube, and 1 million find the right tube, and you did this 3 times during your fertile window, you'd think that 1 of those :spermy: would find the egg and penetrate it!

So why oh why is it so hard for some of us to make a baby?

Where is PHIL????

Grey eyes. I know my temping is acting weird. Even my OPKs rnt showing signs. When i took a dip I had a faint line..but that was too soon. I usually get a deep dark line around cd 12 and this month no sign. What is going on and what is going on with the slow rise? Maybe the antibiotics or flu threw me off???

Thanks for checking it out.

I think I'm the next victim.. stuffiness, sneezing and headache.. crap!

I don't think I could have. The dizziness and nausea...:nope: nope. But that's okay. There's always next month, right? :winkwink:
Actually, getting pregnant next month would be perfect. I could have all my gardening and canning done before babes arrived. And I wouldn't be extremely big during the hottest months.
I am feeling better this morning, and am going in to town with my husband. Hopefully, the kids will be able to get their school work done without us being there. My daughter's pretty good at it, but my son gets soooooooooooooooooooo distracted. He's so much like his mother. :haha:

Babywhisperer- Wow, glad you got your dh to admit about the propecia. Plus if he is still losing his hair and been taking it this long it's not all it's cracked up to be. I agree with Ali- baldness is def NOT a turn-off when it comes to men. Ahem, Bruce Willis? Jason Statham? Sean Connery? Did I mention Bruce Willis? :haha: Tell your dh to relax...and shave it all off  :winkwink:

Sam- may be just a little too early for ov by a day or so? Give it a couple more days

Ali- I know, right? It can be super difficult for some. I just watched America Now and expose about IVF and genetic disease...scary but apparently it only happens when both mother and donor sperm have it. Anywhoo....wtf about your wasted massage slot?! Oh, I'd be p'd off too! They totally should have called you :growlmad:

Andra- wow, homeschooling can be tough! Lol, I told dh a couple years ago "here I am in college and first grade is kicking my A$$!!" :haha: Glad your dd can handle it alone, gives you SOME space!

AFM- early day today, had errands to run...kids are bathed, dressed, fed, I have enough wood split for a week or so  the promised snow storm hasn't hit yet.... maybe it'll miss us? Thinking of spending my day getting ahead on my school...

Plus thinking of telling my academic instructor to hit me with the hard stuff again. I miss my criminology and psychology!! :sad2: I want it back! lol...earth science is fun but soooo sedate...:haha:

Oh yeah- my attorney calls and says we have to tentatively set back my hearing/trial date--get this- because the police can't seem to get the "video" to the prosecutor for viewing! :saywhat: and the grocery stores star witness (the one who said "I wasn't there but saw the video a few days later" ) said the date was not convenient.

AAAAaaargh!
There is a word for this...wishy-washy! :growlmad:
