So sorry doctor had no recommendation, i always suffer from heartburn but it's been worse since i got pregnant. I sleep with two pillows almost in an upright position, also avoid certain foods before bed time i.e carbs, you are better off with protein snack such as cheese, i snack on almonds in the evening because it helps. I also drink Gaviscon out of the bottle every night!

Around 34 weeks i woke up and noticed my stomach/LO had dropped and since then my hearthburns have been tolerable. I use to carry really high before, i really hope you feel better soon:hugs::hugs:.

Looking at your avator picture, I also think you might be carrying your LO high just the way i did at your stage. My boobs use to sit on my tummy lol!

Thanks for ur repiles Ive tried Gaviscon and Rennie but it doesnt seem to want to ease at all i can handle it during the day its at nite when i want to sleep lol!!
Well i think im carrying high so with any luck when i drop it will ease... x

I find that milk helps alot more than rennie! Altho it does take quite a bit of milk! x

Goodluck, hopefully your LO drops soon to give you the relieve you need.

I had it so bad in 2nd tri that I was vomiting acid, stripped the lining of my stomach and ended up with Gastritis... I was in agony! Anyway my doctor prescribed me Ranitidine (like Zantac) he said they were fine to take in pregnancy and I have had no problems, I dont need them as much now as baby is much lower. You cant buy them over the counter but there are certain products in places like Asda that contain it and it really does work xx

Thanks ladies just guess its been one of those hormonal day and things getting too me easily...
I cried when i noticed my Boobies have been leaking a lil in the nite but thats through excitement lol!!

Im on the same and it works wonders:thumbup:

i know it sounds daft but i suffer with really bad heartburn too, i've had it so bad i've been waking up in the middle of the night with it, hysterical because it makes me panic, and throwing up. The one thing i found that really helped was blue ice pops. Ya know the ones ya get from the corner shop that cost about 15p each, mr freeze i think they're called. They are an absolute godsend! I have atleast ten in my freezer at any point so i can jst grab one when i feel it coming on. Hope this helps hun. X

i got something called Co-maladrox when i was pregnant and honestly it worked a treat. go back and ask for something. x

I love Blue ice pops lol will send OH out to get me some...
I sat there and was basically begging him and he just sat there acting like i was wasting his time and he constantly had a smirk on his face ( i wanted to punch it off his face).
He is not my usual doc but im gonna have a word with midwife next wk i know its nothing to moan about as other people go through so much worse but it really is painful and the need to sleep is more now then ever x

heartburn sucks... End of. Lol. Its like toothache or headache, ya cant ignore it. Especially when it gets really bad and starts affecting breathing, thats what gets me panicky. Most times just the one ice pop sorts it out, but sometimes i find it can take a few. Dunno how it works,or why, maybe its the cold numbing the area or something. All i kno is its genius, works a treat, and taste's a damn sight better than gaviscon. Lol. X

I have avoided heartburn for most of the pregnancy, but it has really kicked in the last couple of weeks. I HATE gaviscon, but I have to use it at night or I just can't sleep, rennies work fine for me in the day.
Go and see our usual GP, there are obviously other treatments, the doc was cruel to send you away with nothing.
Last time I was preggers I had a wonderful (French) doctor, he told me not to eat at least 3 hours before bed, and when I did eat my evening meal to chew my food really well, drink lots of water then go for a walk to speed up digestion, it REALLY helped. I try to do it now, but am too tired to walk far, I go round the block with the dogs after dinner, and it still helps. I still need the gaviscon in the night though!

Most people get it in pregnancy, it's horrendous. I take a glass of milk to bed with me. It just about eases it temporarily. All I can say is that it goes away straight away as soon as you've had the baby. Just think you're taking the pain to earn your perfect little baba. As long as they are ok that's what I always think. I feel your pain tho...literally!! Xx

I would go back and see another doctor...I was vomiting acid too from real bad heartburn, and it is damn painful...milk and gaviscon stopped working...the doctor put me on Ranitidine (Zantac) one tablet a day...they are miracle tablets, it is a new lease of life!!

oh i know how you feel. i drink gaviscon from the bottle. my OH refers to him as my new partner.

he always asks if Gav's coming along. i drink it from the bottle 24/7.

i was told not to drink milk.

'A glass of milk does provide immediate relief as it goes down, but milk contains calcium and protein, and these eventually stimulate even more acid production in the stomach. '

i was told to stand up, and drink a pint of cold water. and prop yourself up in bed. i know its uncomfortalbe, but id rather sleep like the pillow fairy, than be awake all night with heartburn.

I got given Gaviscon and I hardly suffer luckily but it's a killer when it strikes x

I had the same issue jollygood....I used to throw up stomach acid, was horrible, with this one I have very milk heart burn so I am counting my lucky stars.
Anyway....gaviscon and tums never worked but Zantac worked wonders :)
oh and my husband has major heart burn...daily and he swears by drinking a hot glass of water, as hot as you can drink it, as fast as you can drink it.
