I got it when Hayden was 14mo, omg it was terrible..I didn't catch it until it was really bad...it was way worse that mastitis. But I was given a prescription which we tried for days and it did NOTHING!!!! So my pedi recommended Gentian Violet, it's an all natural thing, you get it from health food stores, places like that. If your pharmacy doesn't have it they should be able to order it, I did that at like 4pm one night and it was there the next day. But it's this dark purple stuff that you put all over your nipple and inside her mouth, it does stain and she will be looking like she just had the grapest lollipop ever for a couple days but it wears off lol but it works better than anything else, and fast too, within 24hrs I noticed a diff, I used it for 3-4 days though. Make sure you boil all pacifiers, bottles, anything else she puts in her mouth so she doesn't re-infect herself

No Dr's it is I'm afraid unless you can get some genitian violet from a health food place - are you near a shopping centre that's open sundays? Might be worth a shot.

Make sure your Dr give you a script each or it wont go - some Dr's not familiar with oral thrush AND BFing dont realise you both need treating or it will just go back and forth

Are you in pain?? must be nasty.

I would look for the gentian violet too, the prescription did nothing at all for us, so atleast you have it, it isn't too pricey here atleast, I think I paid like $4

Layla has thrush at the moment as well. We just went to the chemist and got Nilstat drops for her and they gave me a oral gel to put on my nipples when ever i treat her. We started the treatments 3 days ago and it is pretty much gone already! It is great!
