i thought i was being smart and ordered alot of my christmas shopping online before this weather started and not been able to get mail into my area since 26th november i haven't had any mail and they wont let us collect it from the office  they told me its unlikely i will get anything before christmas now :nope: so means i now don;t have most of my christmas presents i am beside myself because i don't have any money... what am i going to do....

does anyone know any good but cheap gifts i can make myself that can almost make up for this, i have some stuff for my son and i know people will understand but i feel terrible and want to make up for this mistake....

anyone got any ideas???????????

Oh hun that's terrible :( :( Could you not get refunds from the websites? I would try that, or keep trying your local sorting office, tell them you are willing to collect etc and that it is very important! We've also ordered loads of stuff online and are hoping it will be delivered soon. We had one thing come through today, so am holding out hope for more!

Other than that, you could make little home made pickles or jam, gingerbread, cookies, that kind of thing? x

nope tried everything bought stuff from ebay so can't get a refund because they were posted and its the weather/royal mails fault.... and have tried to collect they are unsorted and unable to offer collection because of this they said its unlikely to get them within the next 2-3weeks.

im so sorry hun :hugs: why not make cookies or even truffles (very easy!) like tm said?

A couple of years ago both me and my OH lost our jobs before Christmas and we couldn't afford expensive gifts for everyone. I made chocolate brownies and peppermint cremes and put them in gift bags and boxes, I also knitted my mum and dad a funky tea cosy and a few people got scarves! To be honest everyone understood in the circumstances and everyone was thrilled with the cakes! Honestly - don't worry - your family and friends will understand x

^^^ totally agree with fairy

I agree. If you explain what has happened then I am sure they will understand..

Fairy, do you have a recipe for Peppermint cremes. My mum loves them.

oh what a horrible thing to happen
i agree with cakes and yummy things like brownies, truffles and cookies you can buy big rolls of clingfilm (cheaper than cellophane) and some pretty ribbon and they will look great
fingers crossed they get the stuff sorted and delivered asap x

a few ideas:

biscuits in a jar (you layer all the dry ingrediants up in a jar and then add instructions on a label)

snowman soup

winter warmers (mug with hot chocolate sachet, marshmallow, flake and candy cane)

cookies wrapped nicely (search google millies cookie recipe - everyone I have made them for has gone mad for them)

peppermint creams (you could even try other flavours)

chocolate slabs (check hotel chocolat website and see their slabs and recreate your own)

sock monkeys

for the adults - IOUs

for the adults - flavoured vodka (cheap vodka flavoured with sweets, fruit, or herbs)

canvas' painted by your little one

calendars made by little one

thanks everyone going to steal alot of your ideas i had my own would love everyone's views:
