Hi, didnt wanna read & run. Congratulations on the pregnancy. It can be such a worrying time.
Ive had 2 mc and was not offered any early scans. ( i know some areas may scan u earlier) The only way i got an early scan this time was bcos i suffered with cramps earlier in pregnancy.
If you go to your GP and maybe stress your worries he might be able to refer you to the EPU for a scan.

No harm in asking - it depends how stretched they are in your area. I think it's invaluable in reassuring you!
I got one early at 6+5 as my consultant advised I should - if my scan had been over 7 weeks or so they would have used it as my dating scan - my area does the nuchal scan so I knew they would scan me around the 12week mark anyway - it's just worth checking that you will still get your 12 week scan..
I got a private scan after 8 weeks as that was after the point i mc previously so was more reassuring - am glad I did - it kept me going till the 12 week scan!!

In our area they routinly scan at about 7 weeks after a mc unless you have other problems. With this one I have been offered a scan every 2 weeks and it has really helped. But I live in Rural wales so I guess they are not as far stretched.

im going to ask for one and they say no, they say no. im so scared of miscarrying again. i found out at 11 weeks that baby had died at 8 weeks, i really dont want to go that long without knowing again. its heart breaking finding out that while you thought you were pregnant your baby has stopped growing

Yea I understand completly. Do you have a midwife yet? if so speak to her, they are more understanding and do not have to worry about budgets so much and might be worth using your hormones and turning on the water works.

i dont have one yet, i have booked a dr app for saturday, they make you make a dr app before you see a midwife here, i dont know why all he does is say 'take folic acid and go book in with the midwife' which i already know so surely its a waste of the drs time lol. i will askk the midwife because my dr is a man and one of those really old fashioned drs so i dont think he'd understand

As you have had a mc before you could also try phoning the EPU directly that is what we do here as they run an open door policy for previous visitors, they might just see you without having to go through the doctors at all

ive just found this on the epu site for my town
On Saturdays and bank holidays, a service which is available in the Day Case Unit during the week, is provided for patients who are experiencing problems in early pregnancy. This consists of an assessment by a member of the medical team, the provision of an ultrasound scan to determine viability of the pregnancy, and emotional support if problems have been identified
does that mean i wouldnt need a dr referal? if i just go in and say i have no idea how far i am and im scared because of previous mc

They will not be worried about the due date as that can be found out any time. Focus on the MC and be honest, Its obviously worrying oyu or you would not have posted on this site. Explain how you feel, how its affecting you etc.
