Hi, I'm asking for my nephew and his gf, she is 3 months pregnant and I was just wondering what benefits they are possibly entitled to, they ain't married and rent privately but have recently gone on council list, she works and so does my nephew but neither earn alot, I know they will get child benefit but was just wondering if they could possibly be entitled to anything else?. Also on hear a while ago a lady was saying you can sign up with boots and get all child medication for free. Apparently it's not very well known as they don't like to advertise it. Any help on any of this would be appreciated, thankyou

Potentially child tax credit or working tax credit. There's a questionnaire type thing on the hmrc website that tells you what, if anything you're entitled to x

What country are you in? If you're in the US, she would be eligible for WIC for sure.

With reference to the minor ailments scheme, this is something that is dependent on circumstances and where you live, but its been around for many years. The scheme is there to take the weight off GP's and for low incomes. If you pay for prescriptions anyway and dont fall under the free prescriptions catergory already, you still have to pay. The pharmacy generally give you unbranded medications rather than the big name brands.

Thanks everyone. Sorry keep forgetting to say I'm in the UK, I'll pass that info on. Thanks again

They should go to the citizens advice bureau, I think they would be able to tell them all that they should qualify for.

I used this recently to help me with my own tax credits and council tax estimates.

Hope it helps:
