Hi Ladies,

Does anyone know which comes first? We've been TTC for 14 months. Have been to see Gynacologist who sent us away for another 4 months to have another SA and bloods done again as she's not sure i have PCOS. I was told a year ago by GP that i had Polycystic ovaries but not the syndrome :?

Had to have a smear there and then but have since had a letter saying results couldn't be read and have to go back for another in 3 months :?

At the end of the consultation, the gynacologist mumbled something about Clomid and possible Lap & Dye but i don't know which will come first?

Any ideas anyone?

I didn't have a lap & dye, but I had an HSG test (which checks tubes also) before I could start taking Clomid. Good luck!

It SHOULD be lap and dye/hsg since you can only take Clomid for a certain length of time so you'd want the time you can take it to be productive, i.e. the eggs you ovulate should be able to actually get somewhere.

hi ive been ttc for 2 1/2 yrs now and had to have a lap n dye before they even mentioned clomid to me.

angie :baby:

I've just finished 5 months of clomid and am waiting to start FSH injections and I haven't had a lap & dye or HSG. I asked about it and was told i didn't need it

I'm the same, had Clomid first, now I'm on he waitng list for IVF I have to have it done. My FS said I didnt need it until after 6 months worth of Clomid even though I tried to push for it they wouldnt let me!!!!

I have to have a hsg scan in October before my gyno giving me any medication.. I have pcos which was found on my internal scan.. she said she isnt givin me clomid until hsg cause not worth givin it me if tubes are blocked..x

The approach seems inconsistent and varies from hospital to hospital. Mine was Clomid first and the reason given was that it's less invasive than the tubal investigation. I'm sure for 'invasive' you can also read 'expensive'!! But the hospital 20 miles down the road does tubal investigations first.

Just to confirm there is no consistency in this I was given CLomid whilst on the waiting list for HSG and that was inconclusive so had a Lap and Dye follwed by another 3 months on Clomid. They gave me the clomid first in case it would work and then obviously save the hassle and money of an operation.

Good Luck!

I had clomid first as this is less evasive than lap and dye! As babymaybe said read expensive
