What do braxton hicks contractions feel like?

This is my first pregnancy. I am 26 weeks pregnant with complete placenta previa so I figure if I am having contractions right now that is very bad but I just can't tell...do they feel like little stabbing pains at bottom of the uterus?

It shouldn't be painful, it just feels like your bump going tight.
The stabbing sensation could be lightening crotch (there are other names for it too) where the baby's head hits the cervix. That tends to happen in later pregnancy and is a pretty unpleasant sensation.
Give your hospital a call though, better to get checked out if you're not sure!

With both my girls I had contractions starting at 20 weeks.. the first one I had to get injections but the second one I never did.. and yes they were painful but the doctor told me as long as my cervix wasn't changing then it's ok.

My braxtons where just tightings, sometimes with a mild cramping near the end, think the main differance between real and fake is real are regular, every so many minutes and braxtons are not, they tend to be random timings inbetween!
