Was just wondering what other people thought about this.

It's so common that people buy blue for a boy and pink for a girl, then when a baby girl sits in a blueish stroller people think it's a boy.

I am looking at a travel system that me and my husband like and it's on sale, and we don't know the sex of our baby yet... the stroller is brown with blue.
So weather it's a boy or a girl ... we think they both can fit in a blueish stroller & carseat.

I was wearing pink when i was a baby and a woman still thought i was a boy so i don't think it makes a difference to much ;p
Personally i love the colour green so im opting for that approach.

And that sounds fine to me, i prefer the colour blue to pink anyway and i'm a girl!
,xx

You do what you want! I havent decided yet what im doing. With my first i got everything unisex and no blue but if i have a girl i think ill be wanting lots of pink! I would use a stroller in those colors if it was what i wanted. And i have my eye on a pink one and will get it regardless of the sex because its second hand and cheap and a good bargain

We went neutral with everything when I was pregnant with Alyssa, but our carseat was blue with roses embroidered on it. Covered both bases :)

I love bright, bold colours, and noticed that it was mostly boys' clothes that were in the primary colours. Girls' clothes tended to be pink or lilac - I love those colours too, but just not ALL the time :)

I'm going with neutral colours and will be steering away from anything overtly gendered. I hate the idea of a DD playing with dolls and pink prams all the time anyway, or boys with guns and action figures, as for me, it reinforces gendered stereotypes.

If I have my way, my son will wear pink, my duaghter blue - just to mess with old people's heads! (also coz I read some research about people treating babies differently based on their gender and I'd like to see it in action!) But I know some mum's get rather upset if their baby is labelled the wrong gender.

I'll probably be going for loads of bold colours - I'm planning on a red or purple pram!

I think it is easier to put a girl in blue than it is to put a boy in pink!
But in terms of clothes a blue dress is still girly, and a pink shirt is still boyish.
I don't really think it matters.

We are team yellow, and we have chosen a bright blue/green pram - here it is :flower:

I love deep reds and green and even black and think baby girls look great in blue.

we've went for the Peach in turquoise and lime green. i think that's very gender neutral :D

emily's got 2 blue pushchairs and
grey and white one

and her rooms yellow and white
which i love!

we knew she was a girl but i didn't
want the typical pink everything!

she has nice girly dresses and so on
but the main things i just went with
what i liked :flower:

do what you want!

I agree NOILEEN!!!! hate the stereotypes society plagues us with. We are going neutral all the way, a few pinkish items but mainly a variety of colours......i live in argentina and the pink - blue divide is also very strong here!!!

its very hard to find things that arn't pink for girls. i have been struggling to find things that are a nice shade of lilac for example, or aqua for peanut

Noileena - I too am in agreement with you. I do not want to pick my child's gender for them. Gender being a state of mind over a physical state. This is why everything we're picking is neutral & while we plan to know what the sex of the baby is, we won't be telling anyone so that we don't get anything gift-wise that is gender-specific.

We found a travel system & play pack that I am very fond of, it's black & red plaid. My whole theme in the nursery is black toile. So no one should get any ideas of what we're having. I just hope I don't slip up!

I'm not really into the one or the other colours. My eyes are always drawn to the same colours regardless on the sex of baby. I love greens and blues together. Not a fan of reds and oranges. If baby was a girl, I would still buy green things. x

I personally hate the pink girl blue boy thing! Everything i have been given for Raphi is a shade of pink and frilly! I find it really difficult to find things that aren't pink for baby girls. I dont think there's anyhting wrong with putting a girl in a blue pram. Blue's my favourite colour and i'm a girl! And who cares if people sometimes think shes a boy?! she's not going to care is she..xx

I would love to see pics of your nursery. It sounds fab.

mine is grey and bluish and I'm having a girl!

I hate it. Why does color have to define gender. I told people not to buy pink for my girl. Purple, yellow and greens ect are just as beautiful.

My girl will not be limited by color.

we are having a boy and i don't think i have bought anything blue yet. we were given a big bag of clothes, though, and virtually everything in there was a shade of blue, mostly pastel baby blue. i've tended to go for more variety - bright, primary colours, plus some more autumnal browns and oranges etc. clothes-wise. anything big or expensive (all the nursery stuff, pram etc.) is neutral as we plan to have two children and don't want to have to fork out on all the big stuff again.

as for a blue/brown pram - sounds perfect for either sex to me. if you like it, go for it!

I love blue for girls but i'm not keen on the colour pink anyway...maybe lilac ^^

I agree with all of you lovely rebellious ladies! I have told people that they can buy clothes as long as they are not pink! I am not a lover of pink so my LO will be dressed in every colour but. Our travel system is Orange and Khaki and her nursery will be primary colours. I must admit though, it is pretty hard trying to find girlie clothes that aren't pink. I am considering making my own!
