Currently i have had time off for my FS appointment and a week off when i had my Lap & Dye but have never told my work the exact reason. I am now thinking i should tell my work the reason i have had time off as at my last FS appointment i was advised i would receive fertility drugs after my Lap and Dye. As far as i am aware once i receive these i need to go for regular appointments for them to monitor me.

I am wary of telling work as even though i am 26 now so work should kinda expect that a family would be on my mind soon i do not want my progress at work to be affected by them knowing that hopefully soon i will be taking time off.

How has everyone tackled informing their work? Any advise is welcome and i really am in two minds whether to tell work x

I decided to be open with work ... but I do get on quite well with my manager and he has been very supportive. My reasoning was that I'm quite hormonal anyway and I was worried that having hormonal treatment might make me quite mood swingy, which I didn't want to be seen as a bad attitude at work. I wanted them to know that if I seemed angry, irritable or whatever it wasn't me having a bad attitude, but the effect of the drugs.
Time off for fertility treatment is a bit of a grey area in the workplace. You don't have a right to time off for appointments. for example. But they can't treat you any less favourably because of having the treatment. So it shouldn't affect your progress at work.

Good luck whatever you decide to do and also good luck with your treatment! xxx

Thanks for responding.

My manager is fab and doesn't even question when i need to go to my FS appointment. I don't think i have ever shown him an appointment card he just accepts i am telling the truth about having a hospital appointment. I do make up the time i am off though so i think that helps. I think he thinks i'm falling apart with all my appointments at the hospital lol

I know technically they shouldn't treat me less favourably and don't think he would act differently towards me but when it came to pay rises/promotions etc this is something that would probably unofficially be factored in
