Hi All

I thought it would be interesting to see which hospitals we are giving birth at and why we chose them?

I am giving Birth at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. I had my 2 previous babies at St Peters Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey but recently moved to Frimley Green and decided to move hospital. I feel like I am breaking the chain a bit having a baby in a different hospital to where my others were born, but overall I am happy with my choice. They have won awards and have very high rating unlike St Peters and have taken care of me very well at the moment =) xx

I am giving birth at Frimley Park Hospital and I did with my son and it is also where I was born along with my siblings and my nieces & nephews

It is the hospital we are allocated too we live in Fleet

Oh Wow =) Is it good? this is my first time there I am very excited xx

I have no complaints they have just re-done the whole labour ward and also now have a new midwife led unit which is where I am hoping to give birth (I have requested this already :haha:) this is if I do not need to be induced mind you! But the labour rooms are very nice (according to DH I do not remember them really )

The staff are all lovely and they have an outstanding rating and also a brand new NICU unit

They do not do tours but you can see it on their website I think

I'm just giving birth in my local hospital. I am going to meet with a midwife in the hospital tomorrow as I'm terrified about complications. I want a water birth and they have a high ratio of pools per beds so I have a good chance, however they also have higher rates of intervention than average for our area. I have heard very mixed reports!

The way I see it is I would rather go to the closest hospital than risk a longer journey when in labour.

Leeds (LGI) which I hated last time. However my choices are slim. I could pick Harrogate (which I hear lovely things about) or St James' however my understanding is if there are any big complications they transfer you to LGI anyway. So I feel like I may as well be in what is ultimately the safest place for us. :( Or maybe I'm being silly. But I know if I pick something other than Leeds I'll just worry.

We just chose the most local.

Last time i gave birth at Cheltenham but it's now midwife lead and i'm under a consultant, so this time i went with Great Western Hospital at Swindon, it's about 20 minutes from us. Our next nearest was Gloucester but that can take anywhere from an hour to 3 hours to get to, depending on time of day.

I am right between two hospitals. Last time I went to lewisham and had an awful experience. So this time I am under Princess Royal. It's been great so far as they are connected to Kings, which Iis a centre of excellence for fetal medicine. So I have been having my scans the instead, because they are more specialist. Baby has rare cardiac anomalies so Kings really is the best place for scans and apparently the doctor we've seen the is one of the best fetal/infant cardiologists in the country.

My care under PRUH so far has been miles better than the care I got under Lewisham.

I had to visit a Fetal Medicine unit (Professor Basky) at StGeorge's in London due to fluid in heart and uteroplacental insuffiency ..its scary when you have complications! This was in my last pregnancy xx

I'm at st marys hospital manchester, it's where my son was born so seem most practical to go back there. Also I was born there so it's nice to think me and my babies were born at the same hospital x

Ive had every baby in different hospital in a different county. I just pick local personally i dont think you can pick off reviews etc because it totally depends on people on shift at time their either lovely - okay - crap.

Home all way this time (it was what i had planned last time after poor 2nd birth in hosp)

I'm having mine at the Royal Surrey in Guildford, Surrey. I'd heard good things about it and to be honest I didn't have a clue what was going on when I chose it! Have been good so far :) x

I'm having a home birth :) I feel most comfortable that way as I'm low risk and have had two before plus I hate hospitals xx

Your not that far from me. I'm over in Bristol. With DS I went to Bath Royal Unit Hospital and I almost died. Just due to lack of blood transfusion. Luckily I recovered and went on to have DD in Southmead and had a brilliant experience. So this time I'm going there again. However, my friend's wife recently gave birth there and had a terrible experience. So I'm not sure if she was just unlucky, or maybe as they were film OBEM whilst I gave birth and when I had a late miscarriage their staff were more on the ball. I guess we'll find out this Christmas.

I'm in Canada and after hearing horror stories of how my gf's had to wait in the waiting room until they were 6cm dialated and were bunted out by 11pm I chose to go through shared care with a midwife and an OB team at the newest 'closed' hospital in our city. They have capped deliveries at this new hospital and 6 birthing pools. Because they cap their deliveries you're pretty much guaranteed a private room (for the whole night or as long as you need it). I also have a female OB, I've seen now 3 different OB's and least impressed by this guy I consulted with who's an expert on blood clotting. He wanted me to schedule an induction with him. I said no thanks and walked out. The second lady OB I had knew the hospital she worked in didn't have a birthing pool, just a tub where she said many babies have 'slipped out'. So she transferred me to another lady OB who's very willing to work with midwives and who operates out of the new hospital. I got everything I wanted, now for a smooth delivery?

I will give birth at Jessops in
Sheffield again. I had a decent birth there last time but a difficult post natal period partly due to being left for 8 hours after delivery before being taken to theatre to have a third degree tear repaired. Hope everything is better this time.

I'm between 3 big hospitals but not really in the area for any one then however anyone from the NE of England will know that there is a rivalry between the major cities, DH being a Geordie I couldn't pick Sunderland, or middle rough so I picked durham university hospital which is meant to be fantastic.

With DS I was based on a small island and didn't get a choice, never want to go back there.

I've heard really good things about frimley. I had the choice to have my 2 boys there as lived in Bordon at the time. We choice QA Portsmouth though as its close to family and easier for us to get to.
We've moved since and have stuck to QA, we know the hospital and again family is close, 15 minutes drive away. we've not really had any bad expreince there. they were really good when we had our eldest at 36 weeks. with our second I had a few really helpful midwives but did have one that made get up and about too soon after my section resulting in break through bleeding.

I'll be giving birth at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, the same hospital as my other 2 children were born, and also both my husband and I. It's ok. Not the best aftercare, but they're understaffed and probably doing the best they can. It's handy for us as we only live 5 minutes away, and as I gave birth within an hour of arriving last time, being close is a pretty good deal breaker! I'm hoping that this time I'll get to have the water birth I wanted with my second.

I'm from the north east. I'm team RVI all the way! Couldn't fault a single thing. They are amazing I would never go anywhere else.
