Hi ladies just wondering if someone can explain the difference between the hsg scan and the lap and dye scan??

Went gyno yesterday and got no where!! I have an appointment for October for a HSG scan i think and then after that she is hoping to start me on clomid and metroformin!! They messed up tho by not requesting the HSG scan with my ultrasound scan 2 weeks ago and losing my blood tests and my OH sperm analysis so we have to give another sperm analysis and another set of blood!!

I was so angry.. :hissy:

She said she wouldnt give me clomid until i had this hsg scan which she admits got missed off from being requested so the only date they had was Ocotber!! MILES AWAY i know..

I really dont think i am ever goin to be a mummy.. if its not one thing its another thing i mean this knocked me back months.. by the time i go back in october it be 18months of ttc with no even a sniff of a BFP!!

I tried everything i could to get some clomid but she wasnt moving she said i needed my hsg scan!!
xx

AN HSG scan is an exray and a scan whilst they insert dye into your tubes to check for blockages, it is a lot less invasive than a lap. Laps can cause adhesions so they try to avoid if at all poss as adhesions can cause tubes to block.

I know how you feel hun, I have been trying for 10 years now and patience and ttc do not go together well xx

HSG is awake, lap (laproscopy) is to look for endo and other adhesions, and dye is basically the same thing as an HSG except that you are under. I had an HSG - while awake; and then later, a lap with a hysterscopy (looking in the uterus through the vagina), tubal hydration (dye), and a D&C (to clear things out like any polyps etc) - while asleep.
