between cow & gate formula and aptamil?
I will most probably be formula feeding from the start is it worth spending the extra £1.50 on aptamil?

I asked the paediatric consultant this at the hospital and he said there's very little difference between your main brand formulas once broken down

It's just personal preference really. My boys got constipated on Aptimal but it works great for others xx

They are pretty much identical. The ingredients in first milk are tightly regulated so there is not much room for difference. Hipp Organic is even cheaper than the other brands. Aptamil work on the theory that parents will think that if it costs more it must be better so they buy it because they want their baby to have the best. But as i say, they are all the same (apart from the specialist formulas such as comfort milk and infasoy)

I think Hipp only appears cheaper because it is a smaller box. It's sold in 800g boxes whereas C&G, Aptamil and SMA are sold in 900g boxes/tins.

Aptamil is pretty much identical to C&G except for the GOS and FOS (whatever they are!).

Ah right! I didn't know there was a size difference in the container. I mostly breastfeed so I only buy formula in the ready to serve cartons which tend to be the same size between the brands except sma.

Ah ok thank you. I thought about hipp but its not sold im all of my local shops x

I think the differences are the "quality" of ingredients used (which mothers couldnt really check to see if its true or not!) and the fact that Aptamil has slightly more LCPs in it (21mg compared to C&G 15mg as far as Im aware). xxx

long- chain polyunsaturated fats, or LCPs, which are found in breast milk and which have been linked in various studies to optimum neurological development.

(copied and pasted lol)

I'm going to pretend i understand that ;) Haha.
Thankyou x

Basically LPCs are found in breast milk and are important for healthy brain developement. xxx

From what Ive read.. C&G & Aptimil are made by the same people.. In the same factory? So are almost the same??
