I wonder if anybody has ever seen anything like this before, and if so what the heck is this?? I went in for an ultrasound at 6w5d and I was measuring 8 weeks and there was no heartbeat. There's no way I can be 8 weeks pregnant. Anyway, doc said he didn't know what he was looking at. Said everything is there to start a baby. I was too freaked out to look at the ultrasound. Was sent to the hospital the next day and hubs took some pictures. Looking at it, now I see what the doctor is meaning by he doesn't know what he's looking at. Both doc and radiologist say it looks like baby didn't form up to what it's measuring and fully expect me to miscarry. I opted to wait a week and see if anything has changed. The ultrasound looks completely abnormal... and I can't find anything on the internet that looks anything like this. Doc has never seen it before. I'm kind of angry he's not looking into it more, he presented the option of D&C right away. It devastated me. I still have a week until my next scan -- if nothing happens before that.

I've not seen a scan like that if I'm completely honest. I just did a quick search and am none the wiser. I'd be tempted to ask questions/kind of demand an explanation at your next scan or whatever happens between now and then. I'm so sorry you're going through this and it must be equally heartbreakingly frustrating to not be getting answers. :hugs:

It... looks like something solid with a cyst in it? The angle is a bit off and I'm really no expert, so I can't say more, sorry. But there seem to be a few ladies in these forums with a pretty good eye for ultrasounds, so maybe someone else might have a better idea.

Did they tell you if they were gonna check again? At least do repeat HCG levels?

In any case, I'm really sorry you're going through this, dear.

I have another ultrasound next Thursday with a different doctor. They haven't mentioned doing bloods again. My HCG level were kind of high for how far along I was. Radiologist said he doubts it's molar. There's something to the bottom right of it that when they measured it said 6w 1d. Not sure if what's inside the white thing is baby, or the thing below it is baby.

This is very strange, I'll be interested to see what the outcome is for you. I would definitely be demanding answers as was previously said. If a doctor doesn't know what he is looking at, he should be immediately looking into it just in case it's a risk of something else or a serious health concern.

Is this your first pregnancy? Looks kind of similar to a Septate Uterus abnormality during pregnancy.

Wishing you the best. I hope everything turns out to be healthy for you.

I haven't seen an ultrasound like that either. I think I would demand getting another ultrasound with another doctor or a specialist right away instead of waiting.

Yes, this is my first pregnancy. I'm waiting another week, because I had an ultrasound with my doctor, then the next day had 2 ultrasounds with the hospital. Doc and radiologist said the same thing. However, nobody seems to want to find out what the heck this is.

Keep us posted. I truly hope it sorts out and it's something that just couldn't be explained.

I'm so sorry! How frustrating! I Don't know, but could you ask for clearer pics or the report? Sometimes you can learn a little more.

Wow that is truly bizarre. So sorry this is happening to you.

I found this on babycenter and a couple of the poster's ultrasound looks similar to yours. One says hers reabsorbed. Thought you might want to check it out:

Meant to specify that specifically the picture on the 3rd page resembled yours.

Thanks for the link! I cam across that yesterday when a friend mention maybe chorionic bump. Now it's making me angry my doc told me miscarriage right off the bat. It still worries me there was no heartbeat, but hoping for one aty next scan in a week.

I'm sorry I have no experience of this bit looking at the link the pp posted it does look v similar to those. Hope your next scan is more positive x
