What kind of educational/ developmental things do you do with your LO?

I tell myself I am rubbish in these areas, because my LO is not as advanced as his peers, but of course I have nothing to compare against.

Also, how much one on one spend do you spend together, and how often do you take your LO out to socialise with his/ her peers?

Do you think you are good with your imaginative side, always thinking of new things to do and to talk about with your LO one? Is everyday different and fun or are things slightly repetitive?

So many questions! Sorry!! Would be interesting to hear - x

I personally plan different crafts and activitities for each day (I try to follow a little bit of EYFS because I feel so rubbish at this, but find it hard)
Spend time everyday playing one on one
Take my LO 5/7 days per week to socialise with peers or go for a walk/ or to the park
Read to LO everyday
Encourage speech, play with puzzles and try to encourage my LO to point things out to me (such as trees, animals etc)

Hey, maybe I am not so bad afterall ;-)

me and summer go out everyday even if it just to the shops, but most day we do something for her whether it be mother and baby groups, swimming lesson, meeting up with friends who have babies so she can play with them.
however when it comes to playing in the house i feel crap at it, we do reading, and talk to her about the different colours and shapes etc but i dont think im that imaginative she isnt really that bothered by all of her toys she prefers to just rumage round the house lol finding bits etc. but we both prefer to be out and about all day.

I wouldn't beat yourself up about this - you seem to be doing absolutely heaps of brilliant stuff with your baby!

I am finding my feet with this as well. Especially as Tristan is so young, you do wonder what type of stuff will benefit. I take Tristan to a few baby groups a week (good for me to meet mums as well as I am new in the area), baby massage and we are about to start a baby sensory class next week (we have been to a taster and Tristan really enjoyed it). During the day, I try to work on tummy time and rolling with him. He is a little bit behind in this as he had neck problems when born but they are better now. I also try to vary his toys (a lot of toys are targeted for different developmental skills) and things like sitting up in his bumbo, sit-me-up-cosy, play mat and rocker. We also try to go out every day and I talk a lot to him.

I have also put his name down for a baby swimming session and messy playgroup - but these are so oversubscribed, I am not sure he will get on them.

Again, any other suggestions from other mums would be more than welcome. As I have said, when you have very young babies, it can be quite difficult to know what developmental things to do with them.

You seem to be doing really well though.

You do sound to be doing really well!

We go swimming aswell as some of the other things mentioned already (groups, massage etc) and I like to read to her and get out as much as possible. My husband thinks I'm a bit OTT as I sing the alphabet to her and also sing it backwards! My Nanna did this with me when I was tiny so I guess I do it more for me than her!!
