Is there some sort of guide to decide what size turkey you should get? Like so many grams/ounces per person?

I'm thinking of getting a turkey crown and I'm cooking for 6 adults and two children... so 7 adults really.....

There are 7 of us including the lil ones and I get a 16lb turkey :D but thats a full turkey, a crown will be smaller. They say 1lb per person for xmas day then we have xmas day sandwiches, boxing day meal again and boxing day sandwiches :D

I'd ask your butcher, tell them how many for, how many meals, if you want much leftover etc and they'll tell you what size :)

That sounds pretty close. I cooked a 23 lb turkey for US Thanksgiving holiday for 10 people (BIG HUNGRY people :)). We had about half left over.

So if you like leftovers, shoot for 16-18-20 lbs. :)

I always cook the same size turkey though - the biggest I can find as we like leftovers... soups and casseroles and sandwiches afterwards.
:dohh:

I think you should be good with a 16 pound turkey. :D

A MASSIVE ONE! You can always make turkey sandwiches :-D

what is the math 8 oz or 1/2 lbs for each person or is it 1 lbs?

 I did a 14lb for the 2 of us... and we finished it in a week :)

I got a 18lbs one for us 4, well 3 and a little one, but we get boxing day dinner out of that to.
