I'm looking into buying a wrap to use in the beginning. I found a carrier that is inexpensive but has awesome reviews so I think I am going to get that when they get a little bigger. But I wanted personal opinions on the wraps. I don't really want to spend a fortune on it as well in case I don't use it that much. TIA!

I had a Moby with my first, and I didn't love it. I got a second hand K'tan with my second, and I liked it much more. However, I'm partial to soft structured carriers and never really feel totally secure in wraps and slings.

We had the close caboo for the first 3 months (my boy is big, in 6-9 month clothes already) now we use the ergo. Got both second hand on eBay and sold the caboo on x

Moby for newborn stage and mei tai ever since about 4 months old :)

We have the close caboo. It fits my husband perfectly but I cannot seem to get it right on my frame, despite adjusting it! I'm hoping to get the lillebaby when I can afford to.

I initially had the Boba wrap. Despite the amazing reviews on Amazon, I was not a big fan. I found it to be incredibly cumbersome to have to put the wrap around me (it's never as fast and easy as the instructional videos make it look) while my baby was being fussy and wanting to be held. Also, I was always a little nervous that if I did not tie the wrap just right around me that my baby would not be secure.

I switched over to the Baby Bjorn carrier, and my husband, baby, and I LOVE it. I highly recommend it. It's so much easier to use than the wrap, and I feel like it holds my baby much more securely to me than the wrap. Also, the wrap was much warmer to wear than the Baby Bjorn.

Used a moby last time til around 3 months then a boba 3G. Using the moby again and have tried the boba again this time using newborn hold but it just doesn't sit right on my body anymore (I'm a lot bigger this time 😞 So it sits really high up my tummy).

Going to try a baby bjorn one at the shops at the weekend x

During the first couple of months, I tried the Moby Wrap but I am small (5'2 and 100lbs) and it just didnt fit/feel right (there was a lot of material left hanging and it was heavy and uncomfortable). I also tried one of those big ring slings but that didn't really work - I felt like he'd fall out and it kept sliding and becoming loose. I gave up on the carriers until my son was big enough for a more sturdy one. I really liked the Boba 3H, it fit me and my DH well even though we're very different in size and was comfortable, my son liked it.

This time I am planning on trying solle baby for the initial months and then probably getting the Boba again.

For the first 6 months, a moby wrap was the best. I wore my daughter up until probably around 2/2.5 and beyond those first few months, we used a woven wrap (a Bebe Sachi), but they tend to be more expensive and maybe take a bit more getting used to at first. If you aren't sure you'll babywear long-term and just want something earlier on, I'd recommend a moby (or something similar like a K'tan, people also like Close Caboo, but I don't love them as they are partly pre-tied, I think it's easier to tie it all myself). A moby or similar wrap is much more affordable and the most comfortable thing for when they're small. I also have an Ergo carrier, but I didn't find it as nice or comfortable when she was really little. It was great for long walks and doing the shopping and things like that once she was older, but for house work and sitting down and eating lunch while she slept, a wrap was amazing. I wouldn't have survived without it. I would just say avoid Baby Bjorn. They aren't recommended because they aren't ergonomic and it's not something that will be comfortable long-term (there's a reason you never see anyone wearing an older baby or toddler in them). Get yourself something that offers proper hip support for baby and back/shoulder support for you and if you aren't sure how to use it at first, find a babywearing peer supporter who can help you.

Same but switched to Infantino Flip. good for front and back carrying

I use the boba wrap. I love it and we travelled everywhere in the summer with it and it was a life saver! I find it really easy to put on as I use it all the time xx

I've been using a manduca from birth with Emma, I love soft structured carriers. Just roll something up under baby's bottom an hey presto.

I have a K'tan Active and love it! Took a few tries to get the hang of it but now I can have him on in literally seconds. If you get one be sure to trust their sizing calculator, they run very big. (I wear size M tops but my k'tan is an XS).

We had a cheap eBay stretchy, same as the moby just cheaper and loved it. Caboos are similar but you don't need to wrap them just tighten and put the second piece on. A woven wrap is my favourite but takes a bit more practice. I agree with mindUtopia to avoid the baby bjorn most of their models are not ergonomic and won't be comfortable for you to wear long term and dont out baby's hips in a good supportive position. Could you find a sling library or group to try out some different carriers?

Thanks so much for all your input! The wraps intimidate me but I think for the newborn stage, it will be a better choice. I don't like the thought of the babies legs hanging down at first. And then once they get bigger I feel like I will feel more comfortable with a carrier.
Rainbow, my brothers girlfriend has a 6 week old and she has a couple of wraps she is going to let me practice with her. And my other brother's gf is going to let me practice with her ergo and their baby is 9 1/2 months. I personally just can't see spending the money on one though.

Using a Solly wrap at the moment and I am loving it. It's very soft and lightweight. I had the moby with my ds and it was too thick for where we live.

I used a Girasol with my first. Going to use a Balboa wrap while I wait on my Tula. Make sure you get a wrap for the right season. Girasol are thick and good for winter weather. You might even enjoy the sling when they get older. Some like the Girasol have no weight limit. It depends on how it's made and the material. I still use mine for my almost 2yo. I was never a fan of buckled carriers.
