Well I'm only on my first TTC cycle, but as you can see from my ticker it's 6 days before I should test.

I know there are some that can tell you early (i'm not holding my hopes for my first try..) which are the best/most reliable ones to use?

Thankyou ladies in advance :)

I'm a POAS addict. By far the best, and unfortunately one of the most expensive, is First Response. I've used a bunch & this pregnancy I questioned some other brands, but I got a definite BFP on the First Response @ 10dpo. I know every pregnancy is different, so try to hold out until your testing day. GL!! :)

It's best if u can try to wait to test until you're late or at least 1 or 2 days before af is due. It is so hard to see the negative and it can also get really expensive. Believe me I know I've spent way too much money on pg tests. But when u do get around to testing I would recommend the first response early result. They are accurate and can detect pg pretty early on. Gl and babydust.

Well I'm 6dpo today, I was considering getting a reliable test tomorrow (pay day! haha) and then if neg trying again next tuesday when I'm meant to..and if still BFN get cheap ones to test every few days.

I think I'm gonna be one of those nutters who spends WAY too much on HPT's...

Thankyou so much ladies, theres so much choice I wouldn't have a clue what to get!:kiss:

GL to you....I have used wayyyyy too many tests and I agree First Response Rapid Response are the best in my experiences I've NEVER had a false positive on those as I have with other brands such as EPT, $$$ store brand, and Clear Blues. I just ordered me some ic (internet cheapies) and they come in Friday and I am gonna begin my testing frenzy over the weekend :) But yep if you get a negative wait about 3 days or so and try try again :) it never hurts but it burns a hole in your pocket fast if you use the "brand named" ones a lot!

Thankyou so much :D
How much rougly are those ones? It's 6 days before AF is due tomorrow so I could try...though I may be pushing my luck, just don't want to get my hopes up. Also with it being my first cycle TTC.

Gosh you ladies are so helpful, I'd be lost without you!:thumbup:

I am a certified POAS addict. With the ladies here. First response is the best. The blue line tests have a tendency of coming up false, especially if you are one of those that study the test all day (way beyond their recomended reading time). By the way, found this on a thread by DarlingMe:
https://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancytest/chart_hpt_urine_sample.php

May want to check it out. You would be surprised at the findings for the time of day to test.

Baby dust on your pillow tonight!! Hope you receive your :bfp: tomorrow!!

Thankyou so much I hope so too! Ah thats changed my views on when to do it, though the women on there were 8DPO at on the first chart and I'll only be 7, but it definitely seems that late afternoon is the best time.

How strange, I always got told first thing is best!

Fingers crossed for myself, though I need to stop being so hopeful/optimistic as for a first cycle TTC and 6 days before AF it is unlikely, but. still..

thankyouuuuuuu! :hugs2:

First Response is one of the best both because its so senstive, but also because it seems to give darker lines than the ICs... I couldn't afford to keep using First Response though so I stuck to ICs.

I did get a very early BFP using a 10miu IC (Wondfo brand). It came up at 9dpo, showed up just after the time limit but was definitely pink. I had a blood test done an hour later and my blood level was a 7! So definitely sensitive! Not all women want to know that early because of the chance for a chemical pregnancy.
At 10dpo the 10miu test came up within the time limit... at 11dpo the 20miu IC test got a super faint line and my blood levels were up to 35! I used an FRER at 13dpo and got a SUPER dark line while the ICs were still faint.

So I'm not sure there is any point to testing before 10dpo? I know I got that faint on a 10miu at 9dpo but it was stressful because it came up after the time limit and if I hadn't had the bloodwork I would have been going nuts.

I think 12dpo with an FRER is your best bet... its just aggravating before that! But, I'm an addict too so I understand... I just stuck to ICs as they were not too expensive to 'waste', lol.

Haha I can completely understand, I think because FRER says it can do it as early as 6 days before AF i'm just being like a kid at christmas, I want to open my presents as soon as possible!

My fear is just being disappointed with what I get, but I know that doesn't rule it out completely..

I think if I get a BFN tomorrow, I'll leave it until tuesday which will be 12DPO and hopefully more reliable!

Usually the wording is 6 days before your missed period... so its really only 5 days before your period, and its based on a 14 day LP... so thats 9dpo... lol
I understand the urge Lol, but its best to wait just ONE more day if you can.

so based on taking a test that you can use 6 days before, how long do I have to wait?
I'm tired and you've just baffled me! haha it's just me being dim so I do apologise, i've had a hectic and very tiring day!

Make sure the wording is 6 days before your period is DUE.. otherwise they usually mean 6 days before your period is MISSED (so that would be 6 days before 15dpo... which is 9dpo).

If your tests do say 6 days before your period is due, then you can technically take it at 8dpo!

ahh! haha I read your post wrong and got myself confused haha! I think the FRER is before it is 'missed' in which case it'll be monday when I can test, if it's when it's due then it could've been today.

But if FRER is the most reliable then I suppose I'll have to wait. :( unless theres a good one which is 6 days before it's due?

You're being such a help doll, btw congrats on your little bean! :D :happydance: Bet you're so happy! <3

"Now you no longer have to wait until you miss your period! The First Response pregnancy test can be used 6 days earlier than the day of your missed period."

ahhhh, so it should work :D!!

Thanks, I am, but also scared/worried anxious... which I suppose never really goes away! Lol!

I love answering TTC questions, I spent a year here so I learned a lot, lol.. I'm new to all the first trimester/pregnancy stuff!

One reason to wait until 10dpo is that if you think you see a line, you can test again at 12dpo... if you get a super faint line or aren't sure if you're imagining it.. you might use your 2nd test sooner :haha: I did that a few times!

Also I think the pee concentration is more important than the time of day. My afternoon pee is always much darker than my morning pee... you can pee in a cup so you're sure your pee is concentrated before wasting a test.

the 10miu tests can catch it 6 days before AF is due.... but you have to get those online to my knowledge...

Gosh you are SUCH big help! seriously I can't thank you enough.
I'm fairly new to this and only learnt the lingo the other day haha!

Yeah I think the late afternoon sounds like the best time to do it, dark pee = GO! hahaha!

You are seriously my god fairy hehe! I wish you all the best in your pregnancy and hope it all goes as smooth as possible for you!

Hopefully I'll have good luck tomorrow but we'll have to wait and see, I'll be straight on here after I'm sure!

Thanks... keep us posted!!! I'm a total type A and if I can't control something, I learn as much as I can about it.

If you haven't discovered it yet. www.peeonastick.com is AWESOME, lol
That lady who did that site deserves sainthood or something for gathering all that info, trying all the experiments etc... the FAQs are super helpful and her information is VERY reliable.
Read her info on the digital HPTs before you ever open one after getting a BFN!

Hehehe, My name's jo and I'm a POAS addict.

If you read the 'bumpf' on the hpt leaflets (and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has read them top to bottom in the hope I'll discover I'm doing it wrong and therefore that's why I'm getting BFNs), you'll probably discover that the tests aren't actually that accurate that early.

YES they can have a positive result, but (off the top of my head so numbers may not be 100%) accuracy drops from around 99.9% on the day your period is due, down to about 53% 6 days before.
So by all means test - but try not to take it tooooo seriously (HA!) until AF either arrives or flies on by.

:)
