This is the first grandchild for my MIL, but her husband (my husband's stepdad) is already a grandfather, so has a name already. My parents are going to be grandparents for the first time with this baby though. The way we've got around it is to let the grandparents decided themselves.
If they don't like the name we choose for them; they're lumbered with it for years, and possibly with loads more grandchildren calling them it. I think it's important that they have the decision; I would like to have the final say on what I was referred to if it was me
Trouble is, my dad's saying he doesn't want to be called anything with the word "grand" in it He's suggested "Sir". He doesn't like to be reminded that he's getting older
