What to expect at gynaecologist appointment

When do you get your hsg done? Could just be there is a blockage there that developed and the eggies cant get through, and the dye will clean them up, then BAM you will be up the duff!

I have to phone the x-ray department when my next period arrives so I guess I will have the HSG done around this time next month. Would be fab if it was just a case of dislodging something in the tubes. Gynae wasn't even that bothered about me having it done as he thought it would be very unlikely I have a blockage due to having 3 kids already but I'm sure it could be possible. I'm going to be so nervous when it comes to the hsg after my ordeal last time, but thankfully it is a different hospital this time. Would be just my luck that the butcher of Bakersfield doctor switches hospitals before my appointment

Ive got mine on Wednesday after much mucking around! Will ask a few questions to see if they can become blocked, what else do you talk about when there is a camera up your whohar!

I hope it all goes well for you Michelle and you don't get the experience I had. Is it just routine or do they think you may have blockages etc? Seems unlikely as you have been pregnant recently though.
I don't know what the etiquette is for mid-who-har examination small talk

Yeah I dont think there is guidelines for that! My gyno just wants a sticky at my uterus, hes not worried about the tubes, but they are part and parcel he said, hes looking at the shape, thinks that could be a problem also, how I do not know! Needless to say I will be a pain in the arse and ask alot of questions whilst shes having look!

You do right mate. I was really disappointed during my internal scan as I was really looking forward to seeing my parts all lit up on screen and getting a running commentary but the sonographer was mute the whole time. I need to get a life!

Bugger I hope they dont do that to me! I will be itching to know if everything is still there and looks right! I just force her to talk whether she wants to or not!

Haha....laughing about your mid-who-har chit chat!!!

I had a guy doing mine...so they are never the best communicators...lol. When he was doing the scan I had a bit of a nosey...in the uk i think you usually get a sonographer so they don't always explain much and leave it to the next appt for the results, but luckily mine was a Dr and went though my results and with the HSG you can see your tubes light up on the xray machine there and then....I just did some yoga breathing through it, it was a bit period crampy, I hope yours is like that next time Mrphyemma.... I guess if your gynaecologist is doing it WannaB then you have a good rapport going on and you can get all your answers! Good luck on Wednesday x

I am consoling myself with the thought that surely I can't be that unlucky to have two horrendous experiences. I am very curious to see if all is well in my baby-making factory and hope I get a running commentary unlike with the scan.

No my gyno isnt doing it Dilly, I have to go to an xray centre, I have met the lady who does them before hand and she seems quite nice, but after a few false starts on the appointment making, have found out they dont do many hsgs there, hence why there were a few stuff ups making the appointment! So perhaps she wont be able to explain too much and I will have to wait for the gynos appointment in a months time! Hopefully I will be able to see the screen though and have a good looksie, not that I will know what Im really looking at!

I want to be able to have a look during mine Michelle, I find it all very fascinating.

Just had a shock when looking at the calendar. Marc has his 2nd SA next Tuesday and will have to be abstinent before it which means my last deposit will be Saturday night CD16. I don't usually ovulate until CD17 or later so I'm praying my eggy isn't late or this cycle will be ruined too

Oh i see......well if you get to see the xray screen then you will def be able to see there and then, the dye literally seeps through and they have to take multiple xrays while it goes through, so FX you get a sneaky at the screen....Good luck for the test....yoga breathing....!
