Rowan starts school the week after next, and I always thought we'd do what the Germans traditionally do and equip her with a big bag of sweets on her first day so she could initiate friendships by sharing them. However, her school has a stringent anti-sweets policy. Has anyone any good ideas for something that will function like sweets, in that you can share them around out of a bag, but will get under the school's radar?

You could look in the party bag section in a supermarket, they sell cheap yo-yos and little fun bits like that :)

I would probably ask the school first, she is little to be organising something herself and it wuld be awful if a teacher told her no or took something from her

I would proabably avoid doing it.... if it's tradition in another country then generally the teachers know about it and other children would be doing the same.

With it not being tradition here I guess she'll be the only one and probably have them taken off her x
