Just wondering what activities/clubs did you go to when you was younger?

I went to Ballet/Tap gave up when I was in the middle of primary due to time/shows overtaking my life and mum running round like a headless chicken! Shame I had to give it up..

What does your LO attend now? Or would you been letting them experience?

OH wants our peanut when it arrives and old enough.. to do skating and guitar! Think that's just for him to follow his footsteps ;)!

I'd let them choose what they'd want but Horseriding looks intresting :)

Horseriding is great but I think hard for parents sometimes too as you have to be quite tough. If your child rides he/she will fall off (more than once too) and although it's important to comfort them you can't get stressed about it or make too much of a fuss as fear of falling off is a big barrier in learning to ride.

There are many good things about it though - fresh air, exercise, encouraging empathy with animals, the list goes on. From my experience at least horse ownership in particular can along way towards keeping kids out of the usual troubles they fall into as teenagers (you're not interested in booze or drugs when you know you have to get up for your horse in the morning :) )

I have a pony and would love my daughter to want to ride, I've got visions of us riding out together when she gets older.

I wouldn't push her if she wasn't interested though. I want her to be what she wants to be x

I've grown up riding (because my dad was in the Mounted police)and was bought my first horse at 13, followed by my awesome current thoroughbred who's name is Flute! (he has his own facebook he's so cool ;))
It really is an amazing hobby/sport. You keep AMAZINGLY fit and learn about responsibility (if looking after the horses aswell as riding) and make lots of friends with other horsey people on the yard. However it is very dangerous, which I took for granted untill I was nearly killed at 15. My dad said I lost balance approaching a dodgy set of jumps and then Apollo (my horse of the time) trampled my head and split the hat. Thank fuuuuck I was wearing the hat LOL. But yeah I don't remember any of this apart from dreamy bits as I was put in a coma for a short while and suffered concussion. Now I can't hear very well from the fall :p Hey, it could have been worse and I wasn't going to let it stop me riding!

I'd like my son to also do drama, as i'd like him to be confident. Art will be obvious as I like art, and play the piano as I do. And OH wants him to be into economics like himself. Haha boring!

TBH to I don't mind what he does! If I had a girl I'd love her to be a dancer, but not if she didn't want to.
Whatever they WANT to do, (within reason ;))

The bolded is SO TRUE. As much as I'd have LOVE to go out getting pissed with my silly friends, it really wasn't an option or else my horse would be left sitting in his own crap the next morning! (in the winter only, he was allowed to live out in the summer so I did get some lie-ins)

im still a teenager so its not that long ago i was a child and i still have my hobbies
ive got 3 horses and would love LO to do it, however i know hes a boy and OH and me love cars so i wouldnt mind if hes more interested in motorsports, especially as we go to the motorcross track every other weekend and hes been going since he was a month old lol

ive started my LO early :haha:

and we take him to car shows, the workshop all the time :D
in all honesty i think me and OH will be pretty bummed if he doesnt like one of cars/bikes/horses as its such a huge part of our life!

My LO will be horseriding, my best friend has 2 ponies that my LO will learn on, me and my friend are both trained riding instructors so we will teach her which will save me alot on lessons, I also want her to learn an instrument but not sure which one yet x

I did drama/theatre when I was younger so I'd like if Maria would be interested in that too. Also did ballet when I was very little but I didn't like it so not bothered about that. I'd like her to try a musical instrument (I did piano, recorder and drums).

I always fenced and horserode until i got pregnant.

I'd love to train my daughter in fencing from a young age but she may not like it!

Some tournaments i went to, the parents were hideous and their children too. And members of the Chinese teams always seemed pleased if they didnt have to compete! I cant stand it when parents force their child to do a sport that they wanted to succeed in or for want of showing off. Usually results in a very selfish child with no concept of normal life and no friends!

My main hobby as a kid was music (still is) and oh plays in bands too so we'll encourage our boys to learn to play instruments. Harvey already loves trumpets, drums, pianos and guitars and he's getting a keyboard for Christmas. I'd also like them to be into playing football as it's a good way to make friends as well as keeping them active. Obviously if they show no interest in any of those things we won't force them to try it. I want them to be confident as their own little person.

I did judo from the age of 8 up until I had Hannah, used to train every day, did comps all over the world and got my black belt at 15, but my baby does dance lol - she loves it, she does ballet, tap, modern, acro and a singing and drama class. Seems like a lot but while she loves it so much we'll carry on supporting her

I didn't really have any hobbies when I was a kid, I use to spend my time with friends up the woods building dens & things.

When I turned 14, I did however take up Scuba Diving. Loved it.

I would like both my sons try Kung Foo (A friend is a Kung Foo Master) and also I would like them to learn a musical instrument. Preferably not drums! Save my ears.

My main interest as a child was art, my mum, grandad, cousins and aunt are all artistic too so there's a good chance Isobel will have the same interest. I was also into ice skating, I used to go every week and wanted to be Jane torville lol! I'll take Isobel skating when she's old enough. Hubby played violin and was on a lacrosse team, I'd let her do either but would be worried about bruises and ears (my ears lol!)

I was in a theatre group too for a while. If Isobel is interested I'd like her to do dance because I'm a rubbish dancer and get very self conscious about getting up to dance at parties etc. I think if she does a bit of dance then she won't be the same, nothing ott or competitive unless she really gets into it and wants to do it.

I don't intend to push her to do anything, I want her to have hobbies and will "push" her to have interests but it will be her choice what hobbies she chooses. Of course I've got ideas for things I'd encourage to help with life skills or keeping fit etc but I want her to be happy and enjoy what she's doing.

I did gymnastics and played violin. I'd love for my daughter to do something traditionally Japanese like calligraphy or naginata (a kind of martial art usually done by girls). I suspect though she won't have much in the way of artistic talent though as my husband and I certainly don't ;)

Piano and tennis were and are my big hobbies...and tennis is one of DHs, too. I cant wait for my girls to start piano lessons, it brings joy throughout life...no growing too old for it etc. Oooh, and can't wait for them to get to our tennis club and have a hit! And subject them to my favourite Federer wins

I really want to teach her crocheting and knitting. My mom was always so big on needle crafts but she never really taught me, and it wasn't till I was an adult that I picked it up. That and gardening--I figure one way to get kids to eat their vegetables is to grow them themselves! :flower:

I played instruments, sang and danced. None of which i do now unless in drunk in the pub

Now I spend my time helping other preemie mums and involved in the charity which supports our NICU. I was a 29 weeker - if Alex (27 weeker) did what I'm doing now it would really be lovely.

In the meantime we make the toppers for cakes, she loves getting involved there :haha:

DH was a swimmer, so I know what he's gonna do with them

If I had a little girl I'd love to put her in ballet and other dance like street dance and salsa. Obviously I wouldn't overload her and wouldn't make her do it if she wasn't happy. But I wish my mum had put me into them when I was young :)

OH is a football fanatic and wants Mekai to play football:)
