Hey all,
I'm still Breastfeeding my 21 month old once or twice a day. She's not that bothered and I think would happily wean, she loves cows milk, but she takes it if I offer and I think it's good for both of us.

My cycles went back to normal after about 10 months and 4 months ago I got pregnant. Sadly it ended in a mmc at 12 weeks 2 weeks ago.

I know in my heart it wasn't Breastfeeding that caused it but I'm desperate to get pregnant again and currently waiting to ov. I'm also knocking out ALL possible risk factors so there is no doubt in my mind if it happens again that i couldn't have prevented it.

Could Breastfeeding affect my cycles getting back to normal/conceiving again? Could Breastfeeding have caused my mmc??

Would YOU stop??

Thanks all x x x

So sorry for your loss :hugs: You said yourself that you know bf couldn't have caused your mc. If it had then you would have been advised to stop before ttc. I have a few friends who have successfully conceived and carried full term babies while bf with no problems. I think you have just been really unlucky. But I totally understand why you are looking for reasons, I would be the same. If you feel that you and your LO are ready to wean then do so. But don't make any rash decisions now that you may regret later.
Good luck xx

I dont think breastfeeding caused your mmc but i think if i was you then i probably would wean if i knew it wouldnt be hard to do. When i was pregnant i played everything by the book so that if anything did go wrong i knew i could say that it wasnt anything i had done. I get that you would want to eliminate any risk factors even though breastfeeding isnt one, its still something that puts demands on your body so i understand.

Unfortunately miscarriages are fairly common, you will never know why it happened.

Kellymom suggests it,s safe, and many women successfully tandem feed.

On a personal level, yes I would wean, I couldn't face the extra worry. But with a younger child, I'm not sure.

Best wishes
