First I'll say, I am delivering in our hospital here. Midwives are not a covered expense here yet and we needed to do too much to the house to justify paying for now. It is however, an excellent hospital. Small, well known for excellent maternity ward, my doctor is fantastic. They hugely support skin to skin, breastfeeding, and natural labors. One person per room, baby never leaves you, they don't even weigh your baby till you say you're ready. I witnessed all this at a friends birth recently :)

Heres whats going on. I was sent for ultrasound 2 days ago because of a big increase in fundal height. Baby indeed measured 40+5. (abdomen, 40 weeks even for bones, etc, which apperantly is normal)
I've been expecting a call about getting induced but looks like maybe I'll just go to my regular appointment on tuesday.
I KNOW shes going to want to induce me due to her size.
I have an appointment booked tomorrow with my massage therapist who's done several successful inductions using pressure points. It stimulates your natural hormones instead of getting pumped full of synthetic ones so doesn't affect the type of labor you have.

Would you do this ahead of time hoping to get labor going and avoid the doctor trying to induce? I'm all for it but keep thinking, what if I wait 2 more days and she comes on her own.

I's go get the massage and and ask for a sweep - unless there's a problem with babies blood supply there's not enough of a reason it s seems to go for an induction yet.

EDIT; dont ask the woman doing the massage for a sweep lol! Do that at your appt on tuesday.

You never know things may kick off any way!

Hahah! My MT is a sexy looking guy named Carl. Tempting thought....

Hahaha, I'm sure Carl would be delighted to give you a sweep!!

I don't see any reason to induce you either hun, give the natural stuff a shot and a sweep too but have faith in your body - they use the same measurements for all babies and there is a huge variation so so what if baby is a little bigger than normal - your body wouldn't make a baby too big for you to birth :)
xxx

Thats a good point stardust... I am just under 6 feet tall and not small built so surely a bigger baby would seem normal for me? I know the docs don't look at it that way though so I will try the accupressure and see what happens. :)

I'd probably try and avoid the induction...

The doctor induction right Ros? Stick with the massage attempt...

Even that crazy chlidbirth educator lady I met with was in agreement with trying the MT... and shes all about the natural. I ran into her yesterday and mentioned it.

Shes quiet as a mouse today so maybe shes getting ready to come on her own anyway. :)

They can't force you to get induced. I would wait as well and hope for it to start naturally. Your hospital sounds a lot like mine. They were absolutely fantastic, although here we have midwives who you can see for all your appointments and who will be at the hospital for the birth too.
