In UK, does chicken salad mean a lettuce salad with chicken on it?
Here, chicken salad is usually served in a sandwich (sometimes a scoop on a bed of lettuce or stuffed in a tomato), and the base mix is chopped chicken, celery, and mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Some people add fruit, some people add nuts, some curry powder, some fresh herbs...
I ask because I had an interesting conversation with a British person once about what ham salad is.
Tonight's dinner is caesar salad, plums, and steamed artichokes with lemon mayo.
I'm still on the mostly vegetarian kick, though I wouldn't mind a lovely chicken salad sandwich.
