When naming your baby what influence you? a celebrity or a family member and a like, do you try to find out the meaning of the name?

As I have decided that I will name my first baby boy Alijha because it means name 'Follower of Christ', and if it will be a baby girl then it will be Chrisha (means: The beaer of christ, truth and nobel.) And as you can see its religion that inspire me.

well we have decided for a boy it will be ryan joseph. oh is called ryan and my big bro is called joseph.

for a girl is faith emily. just like name faith. and my wee sister is emily.

Lmao at bexy.

I dont have kids yet but if we have a boy we plan on calling him Rhys firstly because i like the name, secondly it will sute a male of any age.

I like Darla for a girl, need to convince oh though, its an old english name meaning dear, loved one. It will also sute her at any age.

We had some kids in the playgroup with names that were lovely for a child but you knew they were going to get the piss taken out of them as a adult.

we choose madeline/madelene because we both really liked it, and i decided to change the spelling for it! she was going to be regan because of the shakespeare influence.

Hope was choose because we both loved it and because shes our ray of hope :D

I stole Lily from a lady from where I used to work, she had a little girl called it :D I just loved it! We picked Rose as her middle name after my great grandmother who was a wonderful lady who died to young.

For a little boy we love Rhys or Keiran just because it's the only 2 names Paul will agree on so far! I also love Flynn or Alfie or a boy but Paul hates them. Another girl would be Poppy May. Purely because it's lovely.

The middle names if we have a boy would be Vincent after my daddy and Peter after Pauls dad who both died young.

Our son will be named after my family cat. Seriously.

We couldn't find a single boys name we liked and one night me and hubby were round at my dads house and he jokingly suggested "Theakston" and we all fell about laughing and the like.

Then when we were trying to pick a name we couldn't think of anything we both liked (well I had tonnes and hubby hated them all). I told him I wanted a name set in stone once we found out the sex so we had the 20 week scan and it was a boy so we went for lunch and talked it over and hubby said "I want to call him Theakston". I thought he was taking the mick but he wasn't so we agreed on Theakston Oliver because it flows nicely (and Oliver was what hubbys mum wanted to call him before he was born but his dad hated it) so it had always been floated out there.

My mum will hit the roof as she currently has the cat so will get mighty confused when talking about "Theakston" hehe and she'll no doubt think we're being stupid but sod her.

I wanted a traditional name that reflective mine and OHs heritage. We are Irish/Scottish, and picked Niamh as it is a traditional Celtic name with a beautiful story attached to it.

Elizabeth Rose as middle names, because Elizabeth means 'God is my vow' or 'God's promise' and I am a Christian and was drawn to that name after some serious problems in pregnancy.I felt she was God's promise to me.

Joani was named after my gran (Joan) and Joni Mitchell. Elinor was named cos my OH wanted to call her lenore after a poem by Edgar Allen Poe but I said no cos its a wee emo/scene kid/gothy cartoon character and I didn't want ppl askin if thats who we named her after...so we settled on Elinor.

This baby will be called Edith if its a girl cos I love old fashioned names and OH loved Edie Brikell so as we tend to shorten the kids names sometimes (like Joani gets called Jo-Jo and Elinor gets called Nelly) then this one can be shortened to Edie.

If its a boy I think we are going with Kane. Just cos its unusual and we both kinda like it. But the boys name choice may well change before the time comes.

Elyse -- Elise

Fur Elise ??

When I first heard it when I was little, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard somebody play, and I saw the name Elise, decided to change it to a Y and it stuck :)

I have names over the years that I have liked but one by one, they have all got too popular, so had to ditch them. I am left with one girl's name that hasn't been adopted by a celebrity or made into a chavtastic name so I am keeping it a secret.

Same with boys' names. Its so difficult! I just keep an eye on the top 20 most popular names and make sure I don't pick anything from it!

Thomas Peter - Thomas is after my mum's dad that I never met and Peter is after my dad :)

Meaning, sound, whether or not itll suit someone at all ages, and like Heavenly says, I would avoid anything chavtastic, overpopular and celebrity-like!

We have chosen Celina for a girl. It means heavenly or of the heavens. The skies, astronomy etc have always been so important for us, and I like how the meaning is so deep and important

Boy names are far trickier, theres nothing I like

we had many arguments,,,,we were purely looking for names we both liked. I despertly wanted Chloe to be Isla but OH wouldnt budge! we ended up writing a list of 5 names each that we liked and Chloe was on both lists

Megan Lynn Rose

we chose megan as we were going to call her Ellie Megan but we told OHs family what we were going to call her and when his sister gave birth 2 months before me she called her baby Ellie :hissy: So took Megan as a first name, Lynn is my mums name and my middle name and Rose because Thats whats we were going to call the next but decided if we have another girl then she will be called Lillie, but make it look like we have an obsession with flowers as names lol.

I don't know if any kid of mine would have a second name that is of the family. I 'd like though to have it a English name and a German name as my oh is (english)south african , and I am German. Would be a nice reflection i think.
