so, my gorgeous girl is 8 days old today. since she was born i have been trying to bf but we have struggled a bit with attachment which left me sore and her hungry as she wasnt getting anything. i started giving her formula to ensure she was fed, but continued trying to get her to the breast. i dont think there was one full feed. i have been expressing and giving her that about 2 feeds per day.

i have had support and help from a great mw and now feeling more confident to get her to attach properly and get a good feed. my problem now is that i dont think i have enough milk to fully bf. am i right in thinking that it will resume if i persevere? how long will this take? should i top her up with formula after a bf if she still needs some more or does this defeat the point?

anyone else with similar experiences?

i hope this works as i really want to bf, and cant stand the hassle of bottles!

If you want to bf you will have to bf her as much as possible, your supply will increase as she feeds more. You can pump lots too...

Not sure what to tell you about the pain/soreness because I gave up. I couldnt handle how strong her suck was.

What Ryder said, get her to feed as much as possible but it'll take a little while to get going again. Pumping in between might help stimulate things too.

As for latching, stick with it! It does get easier. We had a hard time in the first few days then Byron got the hang of it. The he got complacent recently and we struggled again to the point of tears and crying out in pain but perservering with taking him off every time he bit or was latched incorrectly has improved things an awful lot.
