Hi ladies, hope you had a nice Xmas.

I'm just wondering what the deal is with getting medical help ttc number 2? Am I right in thinking that if you have one child then you don't qualify for help on the nhs?

Thanks all xx

Yes that's right. Even if you had help to conceive the first. It's just ridiculous when you see what they hand out to people who know how to work the government system we have.

Good luck x

That's what I suspected.thanks. We didn't end up having help with number 1 but were on the referral list as had been ttc for over a year. It's been over a year this time too and no luck yet :-(

Don't lose hope.

It took us 6 yrs for no1 naturally and 3 years for no.2.

We just lost no.2 @ 17 weeks and are hoping to fall again my first cycle - got to hope!! Maybe worth starting a baby fund so you can get ivf when funds are available to speed up the process? x

of course you get help where did you get the idea you done

im trying for a 2nd and have a NHS fertility specialist, in fact I got referred faster because its secondary infertility so they know I know how and physically can get pregnant already

you have to have been trying for at least 1 year
and
you dont qualify for IVF

but things like clomid, scans, blocked tube surgery etc... are all available to anyone

I also think you still qualify for help with No:2. We had a private ICSI for No:1 and reached the top of the NHS list where we are while I was pregnant so we deferred. We had our only allowed NHS cycle last year :hugs:

My understanding is that you won't get ivf funding for no2, but will get other forms of medical treatment if necessary.

Hello ladies

Firstly I'll answer the question. I think help for baby2 is depending on NHS board. I'm entitled to help up to IUI but not IVF.

Secondly, can I recruit any of you to our very good going "over 35 LTTTC baby2" in the secondary infertility forums? At one point we had about 8 or 9 regular contributors we are now down to about 4 of us and could do with some new faces. Not that we really want anybody to be facing the issues of LTTTC baby 2.
