It's my daughters first birthday in a couple of weeks and I've only got her a couple of presents. I'm thinking of starting to.build up a happyland collection for her.
What is your los favourite toy? Is there anything You thought they'd love but really didn't?

Thank you!

For both of my older two, we bought them a trike for their 1st birthday. One of the ones with a parent handle. Brilliant pressie.
The other thing which my ds#1 got was a car garage from Early Learning Centre. He loved it, dd loved it and now ds#2 loves it x

My 1 year old's favorite toys are anything with wheels (toy cars, animals, ect), balls, and letter/animal magnets.
I was really surprised at how much ds loved the magnets.

Building blocks. I got the mega blocs ones. Hours of fun and dd still likes them :)

Mine has a set of large wooden beads shaped like bugs, flowers, leaves etc. that thread onto a string, which she is obsessed with and is great for hand-eye coordination, fine motor, etc. She also loves her smart trike, Little Tikes rocking horse, 'That's not my ...' touchy-feely books, lift-the-flap books, Lamaze Octotunes Octopus, Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes and her Peek-A-Shoe Octopus - you drop a ball inside and then have to guess which shoe it is hiding under. It teaches colours and numbers and has songs and music - it's quite annoying, but my daughter thinks it is wonderful ...

Dd loves her smart trike, her vtech feed me dino and her little tikes garden thing, fisher price little people car thing( I wanna say helterskelter, but I have no idea if that's the right name ) anything with wheels, her brother cars and trains are a huge hit, a half shell hero Leo( Ds birthday gift for her), connect 4( she just likes to put the counters in) and her most fave, my handbag and purse. She will sit with my bag and purse for good 30 minutes just emptying everything out. So I let her have both my purse and bag and filled them with safe junk, old gift Cards etc. She thinks its the real deal.

At a year old, Violet liked the sort of things she could dig out of the recycling bin. We kept harmful things like cans out of it, but she'd dig out yogurt cups and egg cartons and other such things and on recycle day, we'd have to re-gather all our recyclables back into the bin...

As far as birthday presents go, I'd look ahead to what your child will grow into over the course of the year:

* Books
* Chunky puzzles
* Duplo
* Toy cars
* Doll

Or useful items like clothes.
