My baby is a week old. My mum booked me and my OH a spa day for my Birthday and its on August 9th so when she will be just over 2 weeks.

We get lunch and then the spa so will probably be away about 3 hours. I'm hoping she won't need fed but obviously I will need to express a bottle just incase.

I will also need to do a trial run of an expressed bottle beforehand just to make sure she will take it.

Is it too early to express? I've not had any problems with latching on etc shes been an absolute natural at it and it would just be these 2 bottles.

What would you do? I don't know whether to cancel the spa day or express these two bottles? I'm just worried if I feed her the bottles she might not take the breast again

Thank you.

Hun, it's up to you, but a Bottle that early is risking nipple confusion...and pumping to much too soon can mix up your supply/demand. I'd wait, but if your willing to take a risk, It might be okay. Can you wait a month? Also, here most spas don't want to do massages/etc that soon after birth. Can you imagine laying on your stomach for a massage right now? Owee! I'd leak all over too, especially if relaxed!

I waited until 4 weeks. It worked great then, he took to the tommee tippee bottle really well.

But then again, he has had a bottle maybe 3 different times in 9.5 weeks.

I have found it really easy to breastfeed in public and at events.

Thanks girls. I thought as much just thought I would check. I really don't want to risk it as we are doing so well.

I can change the spa to later in the month but then there is no-one to look after Sophie.

Really not worth the risk though. Sure my mum will understand.
