I'm only 25 weeks and have a week of work ATM and my mum has suggested I start washing baby's clothes and getting ready for our new arrival?

Does anyone else think this is a little too early to be doing this!

I've been told I will deliver early by induction but only about 2 weeks early but still I feel like I'm jumping the gun a little?!

Xx

I think I will start at about 34 weeks!! I'd want them to be fairly freshly washed. I wouldn't bother doing it this soon though but totally up to you.

My mum gave me 17kg of baby clothes, she washed them last summer. :haha:

i will wash them probably last minute because I am lazy, and I will use the excuse that I want them to be fresh like a PP said, to mask my laziness :haha:

its up to you, personally i think its way to early.
earliest id start is 35/36w but ideally ill do it about 38w.

I started yesterday :happydance: It's still a little early, but we're having the baby's dresser arriving next week, so I wanted all her clothes freshly washed to be packed away into it. I also started packing my hospital bag the other day and wanted to wash her clothes to go into it.

They're all out in the sunshine drying right now! Just need to get some more vests and sleepsuits in 0-3 months, wash and dry them and she'll have everything she needs for the first few weeks/months.

I'm going to wait until at least 30 weeks. If I do it earlier than that, I'm going to feel the need to wash them again before she's born.

I started today and I'm just 23 weeks! I'm moving my kids rooms around on Wednesday and want to put them away in the empty drawers in the babies nursery . I'm only doing 0-3 for now. I remember from my 2 sons once I got to 30 weeks I slowed right down, was admitted to hospital on and off and so want everything ready for then just incase. Also my son starts school a few weeks before baby is due so I need to concentrate on that too! X

Probably 35+ weeks. I don't want them getting musty. I am holding off on some of the newborn stuff, too, since I'd hate to remove tags and wash them only to find I give birth to a baby that doesn't fit into newborn size.

Uhmm....washing would mean that there are baby clothes To wash? I'm not even at that stage yet if having bought clothes. 25 weeks seems very early to me. Last time I washed clothes at 37 wks, before I went into labour actually. I had my shower at 30 wks so got most of my clothes then, too.

I did it from 35 or 36 weeks with DD, I was on maternity leave already I remember that much. I imagine it'll be the same this time around. We're moving house soon so i'm afraid baby prep is way down at the bottom of my to do list at the moment and is likely to be for another couple of months lol!

I washed 0-3 months today so I can get them in the dresser and feel like I am doing something for the little man to get ready. I also washed the crib bedding even though he wont be in that till like 6 months

LOL me too!

Though most of my little ones are hand me downs from a friend who already washed them, so I would say those wont even get washed!

I think I did it at about 30-32 wks. Pretty early but I was impatient!

Erm, am I the only one that isn't washing the clothes?
When my son was a baby I put clothes on him from new, just took off the tags and slipped them on.
Why do they suggest you wash them? I understand maybe people have been touching them in the shop before you bought them, but I really think the chances of anything nasty resulting from this are minimal and as brand new clothes, they will be pretty much clean as a whistle.
Should I totally change my mind and start washing it all?

Clothes have been sitting in a dirty factory and then shipped probably with rats, cockroaches etc crawling around them. Also suppliers spray clothes with a chemical that makes them look all new and bright and crisp in shops, along with the excess dye in then that can be too harsh for bubs skin. Hence why just about all children's (and most adults) clothing etc say "wash before use" on the tags so u can't sue them if bub has a reaction.
Also did you see a few weeks ago target and about 10 other stores had to recall denim products as one of the chemicals was put in the dye a little too heavy handed and was found to cause cancer?!

Largely due to a newborn's sensitive skin and not wanting to expose them to irritants. When my son got to about 10 months to a year I stopped washing them first.

Looking at my huge pile of washed clothes I feel a bit giddy - they're so small and cute and some things are frilly; there's pastels, a few bows, some pink. Wow! This is new ground! I try to dress my son in bright vibrant colours (when he was little my favourite item of clothing for him was a rainbow cardigan and now my favourite jumper for him has got rainbow stripes), but as he gets older the choice is limited - most of his clothes are red, blue, green, grey, beige or white. I'm loving the colour-show on display in my washing basket right now!

I feel a bit guilty now for not washing my son's stuff, though he was fine.

Has made me rethink not washing the little lady's stuff ready for her arrival!

At about 32 weeks I will wash the coming home outfits.

Once on maternity, at about 35 weeks I plan to wash a lot of them, BUT, we are not going to wash too many as we are leaving tags on in case we need to return them.

I've done mine last weekend. I was 29 weeks :) I waited until the paint smell faded in the nursery.
