How late did you get a positive on FRER? I'm already 13/14 dpo and I see most people getting positives a lot earlier with this test, so I feel like I'm out as I've only been using FRERs to test.
Hi hon, as well as of course your body it depends on the sensitivity of the test..these websites compare different tests...not checked them out for reliability but worth having a look...you can always check the sensitivity of your brand on its website (for some reason there are varying levels for FRER which doesn't help!)

i don;t know if there are any negatives about the very sensitive tests (10miu) - maybe they are more likely to show chemicals and m/c that might not be picked up on a less sensitive test.
Some people can get BFPs at 10DPO - I personally get positives quite late - DS1 and m/c I tested negative around AF due date and didn't test again for a few weeks when I got the BFPs....again there are stats online which show the % of people getting BFP at each DPO....one of the girls jessa_cole posted a thread https://www.babyandbump.com/two-week-wait/746152-youre-not-out-until-witch-shows-up.html
which shows that 12% of women who are pregnant still get BFNs at 21DPO
Hope this helps xx
Just found this link as well which seems to be used a lot on BnB (I thinnk that's where the 12% stat above comes from)
