I think my son first started sleeping through really early, at around 5 weeks. Before that, he would wake every 3 hours but could take up to 2 hours to re-settle again. That was in his moses basket. I then decided to co-sleep (we didn't have him in bed with us but his cot was pushed up against our bed with that side down so it was more like an extension of our bed). And we also put him up to bed awake just to see if he would self-settle. I know 5 weeks is far too young to be trying to sleep train but we have a video baby monitor so thought we'd give it a go. If he cried, we would bring him back down with us but he never did. He would go into his cot awake and settle himself off to sleep. Touch wood, he has been a good sleeper ever since. When I say sleeping through, that was until 5am, then it moved to 6am, then 7am and at his best - at about 3 months - he would go to bed at 9.30pm, wake up at 7am for a bottle and then back to sleep until 9am. He's not as good as that now, but he does sleep from 8/8.30pm until around 7am x
