When do I NEED to tell my landlord?

I think most landlords would be happy they are renting to a family, rather than a bunch of hooligans or something so I wouldn't worry too much. I told my landlord at about 13 weeks and he was happy for us - I even asked him to put in some extra heating which he agreed to. Yahoo!

As a landlord, I do feel this way. I guess I equate (maybe incorrectly) with maturity and stability. They will take care of the home they are raising a family in and work hard to provide for this family.
