Iv had my first lot of blood (4 tubes) for the norm checking aneamia, blood group, hiv and the rest just wondered when they next take blood? Im 17 weeks. Do they take it at 20 weeks and do you know how much they take? Reason im asking is im terrified have to be prepared with lots of cups of tra and food as i faint when they take it. Dont want them surprising me and collapse on them lol x

No if you have no problems the next blood drawn is 28 weeks.

I opted in for the sequential screening, so I had bloodwork at 12 weeks and will again around 16-17 weeks. Otherwise, as long as there's no issues, I won't have anything done until my glucose test much later. :)

I had it done at 12 weeks. I'd never had blood work done before, so I was a nervous wreck (almost had a meltdown). I have nothing to worry about, doc says everything is going great and that I am healthy. We have opted out of anymore blood work, seeing as it is kind of pointless (as well as the glucose test). Hubby does not think it is necessary because: 1) putting me through that again would be torture and 2) given how I reacted the first time, and everything came back fine, no lol

I had all the regular blood count/cmv/toxoplasma etc.. tests at about 7 weeks. The I had the NT bloods at 12 weeks. At 17 I had the AFP tests.
Next blood test is the glucose at 25 weeks.
All tests were 1 tube except the first which was about 5. Yikes!

So far I had insulin, immune, progesterone, two sets of betas and 12 weeks bloobs. All in all 11 tubes. Was suppose to be 13, but they damaged my arms too much the last round so will need to go back for blood type. Then at around 20 weeks they do some more tests. I test for hiv once a year for health insurance.

I dont mind if its 1 tube but any more and i hit the deck. Iv had bleedin around babys sack but thats being monitored on scan and babys growth so cant see what theyd check for but never know x

I am also a fainter so I know the fear. Only way I can handle it is if they let me lay down. I feel safer that way. As for bloods taken I had something like 11 vials at twelve weeks, including the glucose test. The lab person gave me two juices after and let me lay as long as needed. I scared a lab person once when I nearly swooned and I didn't tell her it could happen. I learned to forewarn them now. Next draw is at 28 weeks for glucose only I think. Not looking forward to it either.
