When does baby have a kicking pattern?

I've been feeling my little boy from 18 weeks properly (nudges and thuds and wiggles) and now he's rather strong with his kicks. This is my first, and I've noticed that some pregnant friends don't feel their babies until 24 weeks!

When is it do you start to get a pattern with baby? Like so you know whether something's wrong or not? At the moments he's kicking away but all today while I've been painting his bedroom he's been a little quieter!

I do notice he's kicking more when I'm relaxed, and sometimes when I'm sat upright at work and maybe I'm sitting uncomfortably he kicks away!

I got a bit worried because I spent hours and hours painting and he was quiet. I thought maybe I over exerted myself, my mom mentioned I need to rest more!

So when is it that you finally know their pattern?? I feel him every day usually at least two/three times a day at least sometimes much more. There's been the odd day he's been quiet on kicks but I'm sure I've felt wiggles!

I started feeling kicks at 20+5 and I'm now 24+6. Baby has no routine or pattern really. I feel kicks every day but at random times. Some days there's lots of movement and others there hardly any. The one and only way I can guarantee kicks are going to happen is when I eat ice cream...that never fails lol.
this is also my first :)

so you should be able to start feeling them at random from 20weeks+.. but at 28weeks+ you should be able to tell when the baby is sleeping and awake.. at that time they can hear properly and differentiate between light and dark.. so I wouldn't worry too much. I'm 26weeks now and I can kind of tell my baby's patterns.. baby is definitely more awake and moving at night when I lay down to sleep, and then early in the morning like 7-8am :D haha

Sometimes I feel like he's picked up a pattern then he must turn right around and I don't feel him very well for a day or two!

Ah I love all the kicks, even if he kicked me in the bladder repeatedly at work the other day for half an hour haha <3

So 28 weeks is a bit more obvious as to what they're up to? That's good. I got a bit worried the other day and if he hadn't of started kicking away the morning of my twenty week scan I was going to mention it.

I was so shocked to hear my friend who must be 4-6 weeks ahead of me and she had only felt her little girl kick for the first time last night! So it got me thinking more about their patterns and what would be normal!

I felt her kicks for the first time today! So I was wondering too.

I think your body acts like a rocking chair laying your baby to sleep. They wake up and get fussy if you quit rocking. Is what I heard! I kinda believe it because usually she is always awake at 9:30 a.m. while im lounging. But at our recent scan she was fast asleep cause of all the walking, car riding, etc.

Around 20 weeks, I felt regular kicking around 18 with my 3rd child. But they say 20 weeks.

I think it just really depends on the baby and the position. This is my second, but I'm carrying much further forward. I've been feeling baby for a few weeks now, the past 2 have been frequent strong outside movements. I usually feel him/her in the morning when I first wake and then for 6 or so hours on and off, then nothing till I go to bed and it's a few reposition movements but doesn't last long.

Today I've rearranged my sons bedroom, cleared out my hoarder cupboard, and transferred the Christmas decs to the shed. And I've not been aware of movements at all. I think it's because I've been more busy and preoccupied than normal. Heaving stuff about makes me less aware of small belly movements. I've just got into bed though and have a giddier than normal babs!

I'm 27 weeks and the baby still really doesn't have a pattern. Although I do find her a bit more active in the evening as I'm laying down which probably helps me feel her more (I also have an anterior placenta). But in the daytime it is quite random and sometimes I will go a few hours without any really noticeable movement and then all of a sudden she'll just start moving a bit for the next half hour!

I think that depends kn baby. I started feeling him at 14 weeks full on visible by 16, and hes had a reliable pattern the last few weeks prob week 20 and on

I always find when I am active, baby is quiet and when I am relaxing, he's kicking away. My daughter was the exact same way. From what I understand, when you are moving it puts them to sleep so when you stop moving they wake up. I used to take the bus all the time when pregnant with my daughter and she was always asleep while I was on the bus but as soon as I got off she would go nuts.

I read online that around 28 weeks they settle into a sleeping/waking pattern...so once you sort of figure out what that is (when they are more quiet versus kicking a lot) you can guess when they are asleep and when they are awake..and use that as a kick-counting guide! For example, my little one tends to move around a lot when I lay down to go to sleep at night, and after my coffee in the morning! Middle of the day she's pretty quiet, so I assume thats her resting period lol. I find it good to pay attention to this schedule just in case she I don't feel her a ton on any given day (like after my coffee or at night) then I know when to try and get her moving or pay the doctor a visit. I remember when I was pregnant with my son he karate punched me every day from 24 weeks onwards, until one day around 30 weeks I didnt feel him at ALL! Like, didn't even feel like there was a baby in there. I tried everything to get him moving, laying on my left side, eating sugar, drinking fizzy drinks, and nothing worked. So after waiting for him to move all day and 2 hours of trying to get him moving, I went to emerg and they did a non stress test and all was fine, but it's ALWAYS better to be sure!

I'm 31wks and baby had a pattern of sleeping till about 10am and then kicking and wiggling about till just after lunch then having a nap and then kicking and wiggling in the evening but the past week it's changed, he now wakes up at 5am and wiggles all morning has a nap around lunch time then has a party in the evening. My midwife said it doesn't matter as long as I have at least 10 movements a day x

I had my 16w appt they asked if i was feeling movement which i said yes for. She replied with over next few weeks just see if baby gets into a pattern.
From next appt (approx 24w) start montioring baby more.

I think everywhere is different.

when you were painting, or you're moving around in general, it tends to rock baby to sleep. that's why you feel him/her more prominent when you're relaxed e.g. when you're sitting still or lying down.

do i have a pattern with mine? not really. but most of the time i'll feel her after i ate too much or around afternoon/evening when i'm relaxing :)

my baby doesn't really have a pattern, today, baby was so quiet all morning and is now going wild. really varies for me x

I agree it depends on the baby. I started feeling my current one around 14 weeks but really randomly. Some days I feel nothing. Today I have lots of movements.

I think with DS I started getting movements around 20 weeks but he never actually had a pattern. When I poked him, he would kick back. The only consistent movement he had was hiccuping at 4am every night, and strong enough that it woke me every night wondering why the bed is moving. :)
