When people reply to a post

Hello im sorry if this is a very thick question. Yesterday i resonded to a thread and after scrolling down i noticed that someone else who had also replied to the thread was having the same symptoms as me. I clicked on the quote button and responded to the other lady. My question is how do you know without going through every single post that you have commented on do you know if someone has replied or asked you a question. I would not of known that this lady had asked me a question back if i hadn't of gone back through the whole post and stumbled across it. Hope this makes sence thanks for your time mel xxx
