When should I go in?

I just found out yesterday, at 9 dpo, that I'm pregnant (hooray ). I am over the moon, but not sure when I should place a call to my doctor's office about it.

My most recent pregnancy was in December/January. I was already spotting by the time I got my bfp at 13dpo (AF was due within a day or two), and called my doc's office to request some testing because I'd already experienced a major miscarriage in the autumn of 2014  and was concerned about my history of loss and the spotting. I had to argue with them about it -- they said they don't get involved with pregnancies until eight weeks, and after fighting with them to some extent, I got them to agree to see me sooner at about 7 weeks. I lost the pregnancy a couple of days later, at only 5 weeks.

I'm currently 10dpo, my lines are progressing wonderfully, and I even got a positive on a digi. I am doing well so far (knock on wood!), but AF isn't technically due until the end of the week, and I'm still slightly nervous. I didn't get any lines as dark as this morning's test through the last chemical, so I keep telling myself I should be okay, but of course I worry.

What I'm getting to in my rambling is this: When should I call my doctor? How early should I try to be seen? Should I insist on any blood testing beyond a hCG quant if I'm not showing any alarming symptoms this time around? If everything is okay after this week, should I settle for an 8-week appointment?

Thanks for any help and insight, ladies!

Iv only had one loss and iam passed been due for af . My doctors are giving me a check over at 5 weeks and im having a scan at 7 :-) maybe ask for a scan

All I wanted last time was a quant, and they wouldn't even do that for me before 8 weeks. They won't do an ultrasound until after the quant comes back. I think I'm just going to be stuck waiting. I'll make sure I make it past my AF date, and once that's over with, I'll call and schedule my 8-week and see if I can finagle a 7-week or something.

I spoke with my nurse, and she said my losses don't qualify as enough to get me in any sooner with anyone (which I know they don't qualify as "problematic"), and since I'm not having any worrisome symptoms like I did last time, 8 weeks is pretty standard.

Ah well!

I called gp for an appointment and told him my worries once I was there. I've had one loss and he said I wouldn't be scanned Untill 12 weeks. He booked me in with midwife I was 6 weeks. Had a scare at weekend so they scanned me then to rule out eptopic.
I think it's silly how they won't scan early to settle out fears

Seriously! I mean, I'm paying for it, anyway.

I don't know why they are so reluctant to do a quant.

I am similar in terms of timing with you (12 DPO today) and I will be getting my beta drawn on Friday but I am at a fertility clinic so that obviously factors in.

To be honest, I wouldn't go in for a blood test until I missed my period (so 15 DPO +) because non-fertility docs just don't really want to see you until then plus your beta would be more indicative the longer you wait.

There is no point in getting an ultrasound for a while - you won't see anything until about 1500 HCG and even then at most a sac. The earliest it makes sense is 6 weeks and even I will wait longer, probably 6.5 wks or so.

Hunny I would wait another two weeks that's what I did. Also if you were to have a chemical again I strongly recommend one you get your hormones checked and two drink red raspberry tea to increase blood flow to the uterus it will increase the thickness of the lining of this is an issue.

As for me. I don't think I had an issue with progesterone but began using Emerita Progest Cream just after ovulation in the two week wait. So far so good with me.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Good look Dill. Weren't you in the mamas group ? Xxx

Hi,

Congratulations on your pregnancy and fingers crossed for you! Are you set on only having this doctor? If I were in your position I would chose a doc who takes my requests more seriously and understands that I'm afraid and nervous. See if you can switch to an OB who would let you do blood work as soon as you test positive however wait till 12 dpo I would say just so it's closer to your period date. I don't know if you have a progesterone issue but my doc was kind enough to give me progesterone wether I needed it or not. And she said if I wanted to I can take it after a positive as a precaution or even a placebo effect. It sucks to not be taken seriously after loses so that's my suggestion. Best of luck!

My insurance covers this clinic and it also has a birthing center and an in-house lab, so I do generally like it. I will be 14dpo tomorrow, and that's when I'll call in and see what I can get set up. If I have to wait until 8 weeks, I'll deal with it. So far, knock on wood, this one seems to be sticking. I couldn't resist POAS last night when I got home from work (nervous because of the impending AF date) and the test line was almost as dark as the control -- so it's not going at all like my chem did, which never progressed much past a squinter. I was so relived I cried!

oh ok. That's understandable. Maybe the next time you speak to them you can urge them to at least make sure your progesterone is ok, as that's very important in sustaining a pregnancy.

Yes, I intend to have that checked, given my history!!

Good luck with calling in for an appointment tomorrow! Given your two losses, I'd probably push for an earlier ultrasound for peace of mind...maybe try for 7 weeks? At a minimum I'd probably wait a few days past 6 weeks just to make sure there is a heartbeat as that would give you extra comfort.

I would definitely prefer an earlier appointment, if they'll let me. We'll see how it goes!

In the meantime, I really need to call my insurance company and find out if they cover the MT21 testing!

Signs you had a complicated miscarriage: The receptionist remembers you and starts squealing when you call and say you're pregnant and need to schedule an appointment. She was so excited!

So I have an appointment set up for March 30th. She could've gotten me in a few days sooner, but hubby worked that day, and we couldn't make it happen. So I'll be about 8.5 weeks along.

Was given the option of an appointment with a doctor, which she said was a little more impersonal (two short appointments, the first just with a nurse to hand me my paperwork), or a midwife, who she said was great and would fill my paperwork out with me and really walk me through everything (one very long appointment). Went with the midwife.

So excited! This gets more real by the day. :)

Yay dill, such exciting news! :) I've been stalking you. Haha. I think our EDD are about the same. If all goes well through the weekend, I'll call Monday to get my appointment set up!

Fingers crossed tightly for you, tcinks! You've been through so much, I am just dying to see you in the November groups!

Frustrated with the call to my insurance... they can't tell me if the blood test is covered unless I know the code for it, or unless I have a doctor I've already spoken to about the test that they can get in touch with. I guess I'll have to wait!

Howdee I went in to see my doctor today been told I will be under consultant lead care due to my history with high blood pressure in pregnancy. Guess what it was mega high today so have to record it a few times a day and take it in to the docs every week. My doc is going to speak to the early pregnancy unit and see if I can get in early as I have been told I can.

Congrats dill on your appointment may we all have sticky beans
