When should I test?

We've been ttc #1 for 3 months. This month I have become suspicious, as I have had tender (not painful) boobs from about dpo4, which is weird for me. I also haven't had any pre-af spotting, which is also not normal for me. But I have a short (11day) lp, so even though af is late by a day I am still only dpo12. My question is, when should I test? I don't want to do it early, because I think a BFN is worse than not knowing! But the wait is driving me crazy, and I keep thinking every little niggling feeling is af about to arrive and spoil my dreams! Lol. Making a baby is sssssoooooo stressful!

Welcome! If af is late, I'd say it is safe to test. I always test way before that, but I'm a little obsessive.
