what are your ways of telling your OH or the family of the big news.

i read a really cute one in another forum.

For my parents i will make a card, and put a picture of me and DH on the front, and on the inside i will write.
"this card $1
Bottle of wine $40
knowing that there is really 3 people in this picture- priceless!"

i thought it was the cutest way when i saw it.

any other ideas? :wohoo:

Husband knows from the get-go... my parents and his? Still working on that one (they'll be over the moon).

One idea we have is DH and I will tell my parents that we made them something and that its in the oven. When they go look, all they will see is the single bun we left in there!

Great ideas! HEhehe, the bun is SO cute! I live an ocean away from my parents so we're planning to send them an Amazon package with a book about being a grandfather for my dad and a book of baby crochet patterns for my mum, wrapped with a note saying "call us before opening" then have them open their books on skype and say "congratulations gramp and grammie!" My brother should be fun, I always call and say "Hey Baby Bro!" (he's 26, but still a baby to me) I'm just going to call up him and say "Hey uncle Chris!" and see how he reacts ;-)

I haven't put any thought at all into the in-laws....we see them all the time but they are very formal old-fasioned Germanic people and harder to be cutesy around. We'll probably organise a big family dinner or something for them.

im thinking of ordering custom m&ms that say were pregnant and giving them to my fam

I love tossing around thoughts on this and hearing other people's ideas!

These are a few... sometimes more corny than anything. LoL
- For DH: Card saying that he'll be drinking for the both of us for a while. *jokes* (would be especially appropriate if I found out on Canada Day July 1st!)
- For Mum: Helium balloons with long ribbons crowding the living room. In the centre of the chaos will be helium balloons with a ziploc tied to the end that has the stick as evidence. Even better if the pup starts grabbing random balloons to show her when she's in a different room. "Now where did you find that??" **note to self: do not tie ziploc low enough for pup to reach or it will be a chewed up stick**
- Mum or DH (depends on circumstance): fill their car with pink and blue balloons. (I apparently have a thing for balloons?... or maybe just pranks)
- DH's family: Create one of those Make-a-bear Bears. Can get one that has ability for sound to be recorded -- perfect for our little bean's heartbeat.
- Dad (lives across country): Call him up and while talking send him an e-mail with a slideshow of our pics, furry critters, or whatever nonsense, with the ultrasound finishing it off.

.... That's all I can think of at the moment.

I LOVE this first idea. I might steal it. My parents would LOVE it, and I could mail it to my bro (lives in Hawaii) as well. Not sure about the in laws, DH mom lives far away, we will probably jus tcall her, her mail is sketchy, and she rarely checks email and all that. Or maybe we'll make a road trip up to her...for DH dad and gf, we'll probably just tell them, my relationship with them is "eh" and the gf has a son whose wife is pg with #2, so her energies are focused elsewhere anyway. I'll leave those decisions up to DH.
I think I'm gonna buy DH a book "The caveman's pregnancy companion" when I tell him.

these are brilliant ideas i love the card idea and may have to borrow it when i tell my family. We dont think they will be happy to start with because they will say we are too young even though we are in our 20's! so that idea is perfect! x
