Hi all,

My little boy is 15 months old and at 18 months he will grow out of his current sleeping bags. Is this the right time to get a duvet and pillow for him and drop the sleeping bags altogether?

If so, where do you get them from and what tog of duvet is normal for a toddler? Are there toddler duvets and pillows that you can buy?

Thanks! It's so grown up to have a duvet, it will be so sweet!

my LO has had a Pillow from 12 months & at 20 months ive just introduced a Quilt. its 4.5tog.

ive not given her the duvet yet as its for a cotbed & its HUGE!! but i brought it in a set with her pillow.
i got it from argos & im sure its a 7.5tog.

We started using a duvet and pillow at 11 months. We only introduced it that early as she wasn't very keen on her sleeping bag and she liked to lie her head on something at night. I think the duvet is 3.5 tog and I got that and the pillow from asda.

I got Charlie a pillow and duvet when he was 1 - but had to keep Grobags on him for longer as he just kicked the duvet off. He still kicks the duvet off but can wake up and pull it back on again now. John Lewis do a value toddler pillow and quilt set for about £15/£20 :flow:

Mine had duvets from 6months and 12months (Daniel and Esther respectively). Daniel had had a pillow since he was about 2 1/2 but he very rarely uses it. Esther still doesn't have one and I don't plan to introduce one until she asks for one-they aren't a necessity IMO.

Re tog rating etc. Esther has a toddler sized duvet which is about 3 or 4 tog. Daniel has a 4 seasons duvet which is 13.5tog in total I think but he only uses the 3.5tog as he gets really hot at night the plan is that when Esther moves to a big bed she will have the thicker part of the 4 seasons duvet.

Thanks so much everyone! So it sounds about the right sort of time. Might check out that John Lewis pack! x

We got LO's duvet from John Lewis too. So soft! :)

We gave LO a pillow at 12 months, just a thin one, and a duvet at 16 months as i the next size up sleeping bags i found were adding length but not width, so LO felt restricted :(

I gave a duvet about 6 weeks ago, he sleeps on his tummy I don't think he'd get or enjoy a pillow yet but he needed something proper with the nights getting colder he always kicked off blankets and moaned about bedbags. It took him a good 3 weeks prob to get used to it, now he likes to snuggle under it and I find him still under it in the morning (its a cotbed with bars still up and its plenty big enough to tuck inl Baught the junior duvet and the junior covers separately but both from asda for about £16 total

We gave him one around 14 ish months i think (always forget when exactly things happen but thereabouts!) he has a toddler pillow and duvet set from asda which is 4 tog i think.

Staking this thread, my LO loves her sleeo bag & so do I lol! She is in 18-36months one & I do know somewhere that does them up to 6 years!!

I was thinking of converting cot to bed & introducing duvet all at same time - but maybe that would be too much?

My LO is tall and outgrew her 6-18 month bags about 12 months. She obviously felt restricted as she started pulling them off and wriggling out!

A few weeks ago I bought a quilt (not a duvet) which is 4.5 tog I think.

Then a couple of weeks ago I found she was.crawling round her cot and going to sleep upside down with her head ob the piled up quilt so I figured she wanted a pillow. She's had it a week now, she settles more quickly on it but sometimes shimmies down off it in the night!

I got everything from Mothercare. I think she'd find a duvet too heavy/restricting at the moment though.

xXx
