When to move up a teat size?

My little girl is now exclusively formula fed and we're currently using tommee tippee closer to nature bottles with teat size 1. She's 2 months old, when should I move her onto size 2?

It was time for us to switch when LO was falling asleep on the bottle and taking over an hour to finish it if he managed to stay awake!

I was told that as a general rule it should take approx 20-30mins to finish their bottle, and no falling asleep! The first few times sterilise a level 1 teat as well, just in case you need to switch back.

I've just changed Patrick onto size 2 as he was getting lazy sucking the bottles and not finishing them. He's never been a great drinker, will only take 5oz max but was only drinking 3oz using size 1 teats. xx

Thanks both of you. I didn't realise that falling asleep during feeding could be related to a slow flowing teat. Kaitlyn often falls asleep before finishing the bottle but then she'll soon wake up and want more.

The HV's not worried about her weight gain, she's doing really well but I think i'll give the size 2's a try.
