I am 15 weeks nearly 16 and i don't know when i need to start buying..
i don't want to start to early but then i don't want to leave it to late and end up being in a complete rush and stressing about it.

can anyone help?

i waited til i was 20 weeks with my daughter and it wasnt because I wanted to buy pinks or blues because I never found out she was a Girl I just wanted to wait til 20 weeks to make sure that all was good and healthy before I went out and bought stuff and found out something had happened

well i had almost all the main stuff by 16 week as my sisters had lil 1s hehe but if i wouldnt of had them would of started at like 25 week x

I waited till at least 20 weeks with my little girl. It was nice to get something once I was half way, sort of a celebration of reaching half way point. We haven't bought anything for this one yet either, again waiting until we reach the 20 week mark.

Most of the things we got Liam were paid for with Health in pregnancy grant/surestart grant, so it was really just little things we got from about 12 weeks.
With this LO (that were TTC....I'm not even pregnant yet) I've started buying already. I bought a breast pump off ebay (new) for £6 (including postage) Bargain! I only got it coz it was cheap. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't be buying until at least 12 weeks.

I'd say things that don't matter gender wise are okay to buy from 12 weeks. If your finding out the gender then I'd wait for certain things that you want pink or blue.
At 15 weeks your pretty safe to start buying the less expensive, small things. Large expensive things (cot, pushchair) I'd buy at around 30 weeks.

i got things id start to need around 15 weeks like bottles, steraliser and moses basket.. i spreaded buying things out =] xx

I have bought 4 outfits, a hat and a bib. I wont be buying anything else until after our shower since we are getting all the big things from Family, and a friend of mine is giving us all her daughters baby clothes since she doesnt plan on having another baby for a long long time. I would honestly wait and see what you get imo

I started at 20 weeks, I would suggest making a list now of all the things you need so that you know all the things you need to have before the baby arrives and getting a little bit every week so that its all spread out, have you checked out the mothercare catalouges? they have a pull out checklist of all the things you'll need :flower:

im going to start from 12 weeks, going to buy small things like clothes, baby wipes, and other things i see on offer, buying big things like cot/pram after 20weeks, im spreading the cost :happydance:

If you're not finding out the sex then start buying little things now cos you don't need to worry about being pink or blue but the sooner you start the easier it is as it's a expensive time x

I literally didn't buy anything til about two weeks ago! But i was given lots of stuff before that. Its entirely up to you, i just didn't feel comfortable buying any earlier..xx

I bought my first few neutral bits after 12 week scan then had a private gender scan at 16 weeks and went MAD :haha: thought by 20 weeks I'd got everything but honestly hun I'm still needing this that and the other so I don't think it matters how soon you start there is so much to buy you'll need all the next 5 months to do it all. Plus when you get bigger you won't wanna be out walking around the shops all day with an achey back and needing to find somewhere to pee every 5 mins.. trust me :haha: xxx

We bought our first little outfit at about 8 weeks (i'd had an early scan to confirm the pregnancy and the heartbeat) just to make it a little bit more real really, we had waited a while to fall pregnant so it had been a long time coming.
Then really its been recently that i've started buying more practical things towels, steriliser, breast pump etc
And will start on the nursery after thurs when we finally find out if LO is a boy or girl.

I think its good to start about half way gives you plenty of time to spread cost out.

Making a list is a good idea and then ticking things off as you go. If you want to spread out the expense over the 9 months but don't want to actually buy anything yet you could either buy gift cards for yourself at the baby shop once a fortnight and then when you're good and ready go and get everything, this is good because you can't get tempted to spend money on other things if it's in baby shop vouchers... or if you're not easiy tempted just open a bank account and stick some money in there when you can so the money builds up but you aren't taking up space with baby stuff or if the unthinkable happened you wouldn't be returning stuff, you'd just have some cash in the bank. By the way, i'm 25 weeks and bought nothing so far for this baby but have put a stack of money in an account for when i'm ready. Won't leave it past 32 weeks.

i might just try enter her for a baby show or something to start with

I wanted to wait to 20 but mum caved at 18 I waited to 21 week scan :)
xxxx
