Hey Guys- just wondering when you started to get your nursery together with your first child or if this is your first- this pregnancy!

I have purchased everything needed for the nursery so far (besides the things on my registry) and have just started to paint the room. I still have to paint the room, paint a piece of furniture that we're using, assemble all the furniture and obviously decorate. Just feeling a little superstitious though. I have been told to do it during 2nd tri because once third tri hits I won't have the energy. I just can't imagine what mothers do if god forbid something goes wrong and they have a full nursery ready :-/

I am currently 15 weeks and haven't started anything yet..NADA, not ONE thing bought or changed. I've honestly been too tired! Waiting for this supposedly burst of energy in second tri! lol. But yeah, I've also had those same dreadful thoughts. I think I will wait until somewhere between 20-24 weeks. Maybe 24 weeks as that is V-day. I dunno.

For our first we got started a couple weeks after finding out he was a boy! We moving house soon so this time we will do the same unless we've not moved by then!!

We're going to start looking after our 20-week scan, at the end of next week. I don't know when we'll actually buy anything/have anything delivered though.

The room has been painted for a couple of years, but isn't 'decorated', if that makes sense? It just has yellow walls, and there's a rocking chair and a chest of drawers (that we have had for years) in it, nothing else. I've been driving myself nuts the last couple of weeks looking for a suitable wallpaper border and cushions for the chair ;)

With my first we painted around 25ish weeks, but then waited until after the babyshower to do anything else. Ended up having my dd at 30 weeks - but she was in the NICU for a month so that gave us time to get it fixed up for her for when she came home.

One thing I've realized now having gone through all this the first time... if the nursery isn't ready... who cares?? The baby sure won't. As long as he/she is fed and can sleep, that's really all that matters for the first month at the very least. So if you don't finish or don't have all the furniture or pictures hung, it really doesn't matter.

We probably won't start doing much until 30-32 weeks, simply because there is a lot of heavy lifting required to clear out the room and OH simply doesn't have the time to do it before then (I'm not allowed to lift more than 20lbs otherwise I'd do it). So I'll try to buy what we need ahead of time and then we'll just spend a couple weeks painting and getting set up. I wish we weren't leaving it so late, but can't do much about it. My dad will be visiting in there at some point though, so I'm sure he'll help.

 My nursery is mudded, sanded, painted, he has a toy trunk, a side table with his lemon tree on it, and his crib and dresser are on the way, and last night I bought a "lot" of clothes from a buy and sell website (he is now set until he is about 12 months :haha:) although I have no clue what I am going to do after my baby shower.

I will be 34 weeks at my baby shower so I don't want to wait that long- bc I'll basically have to get everything from that sorted out and put together before baby comes (stroller, car seat, etc.).

For me it's more of that I'm just really excited and WANT to set it up completely basically now! haha but am afraid it's too early to. I've kept track of where I purchased everything and kept all receipts

Honestly I am too excited to not get everything ready. I feel like I will be more relaxed once his room is ready because then if I go into labor early we will be ready for him. your already further along then me, I started getting things ready about a month ago and just waited til after my gender scan to paint.

We are currently painting the nursery following some hefty building work. Carpet will go down in the next 4 weeks as furniture is due to be delivered at the start of July. Probably wont do much else until I go on maternity leave at 35 weeks x

lilmonkey if you don't mind me asking what buy and sell site did you use for the clothes? I'm looking for a good place/site like that!

I'm moving house when I am 36/37 weeks because our current flat doesn't have room for baby and we have to stay here until the end of the contract. So nursery probably won't be sorted until after the baby is here but as long as we have the co sleeper up and ready that is all I am worried about (at the moment anyway, I'm sure that will change as I get further along!)

My City has a buy and sell page (as do most cities now) on Varagesale.com it's pretty neat because when you sign up it asks for where you are and will point you towards "communities" in your local area. It's also nice because they have shipping only "communities" so your not restricted to having to go meet he person. I also find lots of deals on amazon and being that your in the US you guys get much cheaper shipping, although i've never found a deal like I did on Varage Sale. I have attached a picture of what i got for $20 (this pic was taken after I sorted and took out all clothes that had any sign of wear or stains)

We are in the process of buying a new house and hope to complete by the end of his month so we haven't been able to start the nursery yet. We have already bought bedding, curtains etc and will be using the same furniture that DS has used so all we need to do it paint and carpet once we eventually get in.

As LO will be sleeping in our room for a while first, I understand it's not urgent to have her room finished but I would just like it to be done so I am not worrying about it after she is here. I also want to be able to hang up all her clothes etc and just to have some space to keep all that baby stuff that has a habit of taking over the house!

X

With my first, we had my Mum and brother living with us for a few months while my Mum was buying a new house.. so we didn't have a room to decorate for DS but luckily we have a big bedroom so I put some wall stickers etc up around his cot and bedside table when I was about 30 weeks. Then we decorated his room when he was about 10 months old and he moved into it just before his 1st birthday. This time, we started decorating last week and I'm 24+5 today. We're just taking it slowly though but so far all 4 walls are painted, the curtains are up and her blossom tree wall sticker is up xx

I'm moving at 34/35 weeks  but, to be honest, it won't be done until I have the money to do it which will probably be after she's here. She won't go in it for a few months anyway so no rush
