when to stop sterilising?

I always understood you should sterilise all feeding equipment until 6 months, but should sterilise bottles as long as they are used (due to the previous comment about milk being trapped in the teat and bacteria etc).

Sam had a bedtime bottle (have replaced the other milk feeds with a cup at 1 or a bit later) until he was 2 and I still sterilised up till then. I wasn't as cautious though about using bottles as soon as I opened the steriliser etc though - I would just sterilse a lot at once and use when needed over several days.

I sterilise bottles for as long as I use them due to the nasty bugs in formula/cows milk. I put weaning stuff through the steriliser once a week or so not every time I use it.

PJ is almost 8 months old and I still sterilize his bottles and I plan on doing so as long as he uses them. Honestly it's a habit now anyway. I wash his bottles and nipples and immediately place them in the sterilizer. It gets put in the microwave and it's sterilized in four minutes.
